As far as I can tell it died years ago. Even the CBC doesn't have the regulars (Gzowski and Gabarough (SP?) that used to make it shine. As for music, well, maybe in the UK where they seem to play something more than Creed 23 hours a day.
If you count downloading BBC Essential Mix broadcasts and listening to digitallyimported.com as "radio," then yes, it's alive and well. But as for the old "radio-frequency transmission" public broadcasting idea, it's rather dead.

Oh, he's a great actor. I just hate him. It's something about growing up when he _was_ a boy-toy while hearing every girl you know gush about him constantly. Nothing against him, but his looks came before his talent. He's just another Hollywood whore who used his looks to launch his career. I'm not alone in this feeling, I remember many of my friends saying the same thing when Club came out.

It could be because I was half drunk, and half stoned, but I remember noticing Tekken Tag is exactly like _every other_ 2P fighiting game since the advent of Street Fighter. I silently sobbed as I watched such a powerful little box go to waste. It plays pr0n DVDs fine, however.
Maybe now I'll get charged every time I get screwed during my engineering midterms/exams. After all, I'm paying for it so it could be seen as soliciting sexual services.
Or DVD drive? Or HDD? Talk about your noisy components. I still love DVD on my PC (finally, a compact, portable, non degrading movie format!) but damn if all those spinning things aren't LOUD.
This is sure to confuse many a/. reader at the bookstore. I know I find myself often chosing O'Reilly over very similar books, often out of habit. And consistency is nice as well.

a very bright young lad who now works at RIM seemed to enjoy the service tunnels that run throughout campus. There's still many stories of them, and this page sums it up nicely. Oh, and dig around his site and learn how to make a nice digital camera from a flatbed scanner!
Agreed. The C340 is what I have powering my NAD C540 CD player. Paired with some Paradigm Monitor 3s this makes a great CD system. Tie it all together with AudioQuest Coral interconnects and New Type 4 speaker wire. There are great offerings in the A/V receiver area as well, or so http://audioreview.com says.
I wonder if this will degenerate into the usual audiophile pissing contest?
If important software projects used licensed Engineers instead of unaccountable coders, there'd be a lot less important mistakes. Making someone professionally responsable for their team or code is a great way to improve quality. It's common sense and every first year Engineering student is beaten over the head with this fact. Accountability is the best policy.
DataSquid.net, all the UW Computer Engineering you can eat.
As long as CRAP doesn't get in (Canadian Reform Alliance Party), I'm happy. Dear god, don't let those wackos in... Personally, I'm voting PC (mainly becasue I'm sad to see them go and I am sure the Liberals will cash in again). But dear god, aslong as it's not CRAP.
And maybe the fact that the majority of respondants ar NOT AMERICAN will stop the onslaught of nausiating US political news we've been seeing here for the past _several_ months. It's not like any of your party leaders doesn't inherently suck.
Has there been mention of the Canadian election coming in three weeks? Don't think so! Of course, we only do a month or two of campaigning, as opposed to the year long orgy the Yanks participate in...
"The point I was making was that cache considerations play a big role in optimising inner loops. The above code is an example written by Niklas Beisert a.k.a Pascal of Cubic Team to show the effects of cache misses when doing snazzy bitmap effects."
Another point that should be made is the importance of processor specific optimising compilers. Saying that one processor runs code slower than another is moot, it's the fault of the compiler generated code. However, saying that one cache architecture supports the majority of current comiler optimisations better _is_ a valid point.
But if we're going to start talking on the level of new hardware (associativity and prediction etc), then we have to start considering new compilers that take advantages of the different hardware as well.
It's not "a tool that is used exclusively to steal from legitimate artists," it's a tool that's used to steal from legitimate big nasty corporations. The artists make little, and the system needs to change, bigtime.
Online voting was available for our recent Federation of Students election here at the University of Waterloo. I think we beat the Yanks to the punch by a week or two. I saw mention of this somewhere in print on campus, but I can't track down the clipping online. Here's a brief mention of the results though. Even though we were first to do online voting (which as far as I know is as legally binding as the Democratic one in Arazona), we were still mighty apathetic.
Actually, I never looked at the ad portion when I watched. I was thankful that they chose the lower and right sides to place the banners, because this is where Real Player 'snaps' when placed in minimal mode. Just drag to the lower right corner of your desktop, do a little test placing, and boom, no banner border.
I'm still rather new to Linux, I'm happy with my setup except for one thing. I'm an MP3 nut, and I use two soundcards and a DJ mixer for mixing. This is a simple setup under Win, but I don't know how to get Linux to install two seperate sound devices. Has anyone had success setting up a second soundcard?
With the recent insider trading issue surrouning you and Corel, along with your less than subltle choice of cars, home and evening wear, do you feel as others do that the playboy image you maintain is not in line with the serious operation of a major software firm?
You'd be suprised just how much better. Shows like Kids In The Hall got away with more nudity and 'bad' language on their 9pm national broadcast than in their full length movie. That's what makes me laugh hardest about America. There's nothing like a country founded by Puritans, kill whoever you want but if you show a nipple or swear on TV, oh, the horror! I was glad to see that the South Park Movie made this point as well;)
Did anyone else notice in the latest TLC video Unpretty that when the breast implant is being removed from that woman that they actaully blurred the nipple? Watch closely and make sure to have pillows on the floor to soften the blow when you hit it laughing. If aspects of American culture like this weren't doing such a good job of seeping into our own, I wouldn't be so worried. But as it is, I'm terrified that the merchants to the south are going to totally supplant all world culture with their own. Hell, Disney owns the Mounties. And let's not talk about what's been done to hockey in the last 10 years alone.
As for uncensored news coverage, how about non-sensational relavent news coverage? I'm continually impressed by the quality of the CBC newsgroup to report national and international matters that matter. If I see one more ABC/CBS/NBC news report confirming that the people on board the Egypt Air flight are STILL all dead, I'll scream. Why do they seem to think we need to know EVERY detail about something like this?
And having watched MTV/VH1, I pitty you. MuchMusic actually plays _music videos_ on a regular basis! Imagine that! Anyway, I'm just passing on my own opinon and a little bit of experience having lived both on the border and away form it. If I wanted to really go hammer and tongs at the whole US-Canadian situation, I'd be here all day.
Yes, we're kinda quiet, but you'd be supprised just what the average Canadian thinks about America. Yeah Canadian TV!

Wow, and I just broke out my scanner yesterday after a couple years of no use. I love being able to listen to my airwaves, be the signals American or Canadian (I live on the border). People (especially Americans, with their odd crypto laws) need to smaren up and transit wirelessly in a smart, secure manner.
Anyhoo, back to where we were. I once had to write an essay on "the Canadian identity" and after much thought, it hit me. What Canadians take pride in most is not being American. We could write volumes on all the crazy cock-ups with gun laws, foreign trade laws, crypto laws and pirvacy laws. At least if we're going to be SWAMPED with your media, we can laugh. And we laugh a lot. Suprisingly (or not, depending on your level of experience), Americans seem to be unaware that they are the daily smile for millions and millions of us;)
