  2. Re:Take all the time you need, to get it right on PS3 In U.S. In November? · · Score: 4, Insightful

For once I wish I had mod points to Mod up some of the comments below this Post.

As stated in other comments, Xbox has a long way to go before reaching the level the PS2 has managed to reach. Technical Problems aside, the hardware problems has tarnished the image of the X360 release. 2% or not, many seemed to know someone who knew someone who's brother's dad had problems with it. True or not hearsay is powerful.

Next-Gen is still unknown to the masses. Technology right now is diluting itself. Retailers are pushing Hi-def, but there is little content for it, and non-techies can't tell the diffrence less they see it side by side. HD/Blu-Ray are pushing for new Media, but DVD is out there, and VHS still has a significant role as well, evident by the availablilty of new movies on DVD and VHS Format. Game is no diffrent. It looks like a game. It plays like a game, wow this must be another game!

It's highly unlikely the PS3 will Fail due to blu-ray, and every article and speculation (since there is NOTHING ELSE but speculation) I've read indicates Blu-Ray costs will most likely get eaten by Sony, akin to DVD drives in the PS2 Release. Sony can build most of the parts for their consoles in house via their own manufacturing plants further reducing the costs.

Anything is possible, but its pretty unlikely the PS3 will fail. Many thought the market would not support 3 Mainstream consoles when Xbox Came out, but its proven it can, and looks to continue that trend.

  3. Re:PS2 "Exclusive" on Soul Caliber III PS2 Only? · · Score: 1

The PS3 is Confirmed to be backwards compatible. So the PS2 Library is going to roll over to the PS3. Maybe with some enhancements like better AA to make games look even better on the new engine.

However the opposite is true with Xbox2. And the the game would more then likely be part of the release lineup for Xbox2, which would be limited to early adopters.

It would seem to me, that Nintendo should be fighting for it as well. Their new system is also backwards compatible.
The only reason I can see The GC not being viable, is the fact that the PS2 is in more homes then a GC.

I don't think most Truck drivers are very Tech savy though. That demographic is part of who AOL and MSN are targeting.

ITs interesting, since I Just purchased a sony CD/MP3 Player for my car. in the Manual it indicates that the player conforms to the CD-Standard, and cannot read disks with copyright protections that do not conform to the CD-Standard.

The OS is just a mouse for them to double click icons. It would not be very hard to create a new interface to run in linux, and slap an icon on their desktop to run that interface, which looks very familiar to Windows, and still allows them to work comfertably in the custom software they have been using for some time.

It really all depends on what apps they have been using to determine if they need to retrain MANY things or not.

If someone manages to find and exploit a flaw in Bind, they will keep that info to themself because few know about it. That makes it more likely for them to use it again and again when they discover it.
By making a private list, to me, it is closing the doors to everyone else that uses bind leaving them open to possible explotation. It would suck if a large hole is ever discovered and the only people that know about it are on that mailing list.
I thought the purpose of opensource security is that it is just that... if everyone is aware, then someone can quickly patch the software themself until a official patch is released.
