AFAIK, Win2k is only available on Intel architectures, and it's far from being high-end hardware. If you really want high-end equipment, go for something 64-bit (i.e. Alpha or UltraSparc). As for Gigabit Ethernet, etc., I guess we'll just have to see how well Win2k handles it!!
It's kinda hard to audit code that's not released...(i.e. RSAREF)
"If you're going to make claims back them up or get out of my fucking face."
I suggest you do the same. You don't have very convincing arguments about OpenBSD source auditing being an "urban legend". And it is still considered the most secure OS around.
Check the facts, you stupid moron. SSH1 has absolutely nothing to do with OpenBSD. The OpenBSD team wrote OpenSSH, which is an alternative to the commercial version of SSH. They are not responsible for this problem. It would also be interesting to note that they fixed a couple of other problems in SSH by rewriting it.
I think you can find the information on www.kmfms.com
They have a link over there on Microsoft and all the things they did! Hope it helps.
And about this stupid dude saying that we're jealous of the salaries, sorry, money is probably one of the last things driving me. You just don't get it!
Well, for your information, the apps on the server have been almost completely written by the core developers on the system. Unlike most of the projects, we try to adapt the backend for speed and ease of use, and we're the ones using it right now, so we did "eat our own dog food"...and we know what it feels like, and frankly, it's not that bad!!
Well, we don't really use Java either. Only Javascript for popups and the taskbar, etc., but we tried to use the least Javascript possible, due to problems with browsers! The apps are all done in Perl, so is the backend. The HTML is generated on the fly.
we're all a bunch of security freaks here, don't worry, and we'll have an SSL key (128-bit global id) within a week. We've been delayed due to NSI bureaucracies!!
Besides, I don't think anyone around here has an interest in what's on the users' workspaces...we are not Microsoft, repeat, we are not Microsoft!
Hey, I'm one of the core developers of the system, and I'm currently in charge of the Crypto modules. In one of the following versions, you will be able to encrypt your data on the server, using an algorithm of your choice (3DES, Blowfish, etc.).
I'm currently working on a project called SmartWorker. It uses Apache, mod_perl and MySQL (we're working on full compatibility for other databases) to make online applications and sites easy to write. The backend has become really stable lately, and we're improving it a lot.
Yes, some people at Corel devote a lot of time on WINE. I know Gavriel State is one of the leaders of the project, and he gave a small lecture at the Ottawa Linux Symposium about it!
that most people don't automatically get a "throw the guy in jail, or just kill him for that matter" approach to the subject. It seems that past polls on such controversial subjects have produced comments I could not believe!
He might have done something stupid, but he still has rights! Still, what he did was kinda lame, and he deserves a punishment, just not a big one!
Sorry to say that, but Kevin Mitnick never took profit from the hacks (or cracks, whatever!) he pulled. He might have stolen 20 000 credit card numbers, but never used a single one of them to buy stuff!
It might not have been real intelligent, but please get the right facts! Kevin never stole from anyone!
It's not true that most of us think that anything not Linux sucks! BSD is a very good operating system too! Especially OpenBSD! But NT sucks in a big way. Anyone saying the contrary has to be retarded... Not necessarily because it's unsecure, but especially because it is made by a company with the "Objective : control the world" sentence in its business plan! As for the people who say stupid things about Turing, like the one saying homos should be kept out of IT, I'm OK with that, because IT is for people who are too stupid to go in real Computer Science! Alan Turing was one of the greatest of all, inventing the bases of cryptology and the small computer you're working on right now! And I don't see what his sexual orientation has to do with that!
You don't need open-source to do that. You could even modify the administrator's own code, and it would do the same thing. Besides, unless the sysadmin is very crappy, users should never be allowed to write to code files. If they can do so, they probably gained root rights on the system, and putting a trojan in a program is just one of the many ways you can give yourself future access on such a system!!!
A really cool chair wouldn't concentrate on ergonomy or meat-related things. It would have some cool hardware inside, like an integrated joystick, an LCD screen with important info like CPU load, sys time, etc. and a fridge to put lots of Jolt cola. It should also have a neat array of plugs (parallel, serial, USB, video, blablabla). There you have it...I'd pay 3500$ for that!
There is an obfuscated Perl code contest. The rules and necessary information are published in the Perl journal every year, if I'm not mistaken!
And although Perl does look obfuscated right from the start, it is truly horrible to see some obfuscated Perl!!!
I believe the right term would be 'enculeur de mouches'.

Woooops, mistake from my part here...sorry for that, I'm reading the RSAREF license right now to punish myself...

Euh, Xerox didn't even invent the desktop metaphor. They stole it from Stanford, I think...

I'm sorry, just didn't see the email you sent.

:)
Check out www.smartworker.org for more info!
And it's completely open source
Even then, it would be biased. Apache is far better on a Unix platform than on a Windows machine!!
"Code free or die!"
Yes, some people at Corel devote a lot of time on WINE. I know Gavriel State is one of the leaders of the project, and he gave a small lecture at the Ottawa Linux Symposium about it!
Last time I checked, his books already covered IPv6, so it won't be a problem. He had even thought about that!
The real problem is that he is dead, he was really young (48), and his kids will probably miss him a lot! Sorry for you guys!

Unless you go s/Net/Open/, this is not exactly right. OpenBSD is probably the most secure OS available right now!!!
OpenBSD rules, mainly because it's the first UNIX flavor to detach itself from DES, which is a sucky cipher system.
Blowfish all the way, baby!!!

They should have more choice. I'd definitely go for some plastic explosive inside toothpaste tubes, or small rocket launchers!!

There's a super duper huge error on the page with
the press release...
They state that current Pentium processors are based on a RISC architecture?!?!?
Isn't that more like CISC?
