I was thinking that the clambake fiasco would make an interesting counterpunch question, but he is the CTO, not the CEO or the Chief Legal Boob or whoever makes that call. I'm sure he's gonna have feeelings on it, but I don't know that its going to be much more than your average user...
Or is the stop-action flight arc of the plane less than impressive. My dad had a book by Scientific American where they did some serious trials of planes and most of them did nearly as well at the same size, composition, and without hi-fallutin' laser propulsion.
I, for one, am suprised at the sheer amounts of Fear And Loathing being directed at this project before its even gotten off the ground. I'm not entirely sure why these four companies as a consortium are now the new Evil (Linux) Empire when singularly they have been historically much lauded.
BTW: Its the _Linux_ that's United, not the business model.
It seems that if RMS wants converts to his ideology, limiting himself to groups that follow the GNU/Linux line is preaching to the choir: those not toeing his line are the ones who need speaking to _most_.
I suppose that it is part of RMS's goal to try to slip in plugs for GNU, but his response seems more like a glorified flame war...
I mean, I know they've done some particularly ugly things, but the allegation that Microsoft is trying to shave dollars by screwing "partners" is really
" a move that could potentially give Microsoft access to information about customers"
isn't supported by the article. Have we gotten to the point that anything Microsoft does is immediately viewed with Fear And Loathing?
While much overrated (IMHO), Lucas has (repeatedly) said that he's working on modern-age mythbuilding. One of the primary vectors of myth is constant interpretation and reintrepretation of the story over time to reflect enduring and changing mores and values.
I think its unfortunate that Lucas didn't capitalize on this and allow inclusion of stuff set within the same universe: having Han play quarters with Chewbacca would be out, but following say, the Kessel Run would be a-okay.
Its not suprising that he'd want to keep a lid on what his characters do and say, but he should open up the milleu a bit...
(not that seeing a Leia-on-Amandala _anything_ wouldn't rock...)
With all the work being done in image recognition, nobody has come up with anything that does this for astronomy -- with the sheer volume of digital data currently available?
I'm not entirely sure why the general populace of this good republic of California and the rest of the country sees $25K and starts screaming "SCANDAL! SCANDAL!"
$25,000 in this modern age of politics won't go very far. As far as kickbacks go, most politicos (and their "contributors") are smarter than to make a direct payment like this.
Its the government. Its supposed to make stupid purchases. C'mon -- thats $96M (+ related hardware/installation expenses) right into CA's dotbom economy...lighten up.
That since the webadmin hisself submitted this (booo) he'd have his server issues yoked out. Apparently he was more interested in how the case -looked- than how it ran?
The lawsuit is being filed on behalf of Morrison & Foster by itself and is not a class action. Nobody else is entitled to restitution. Sorry.
I'm waiting for better tech to sort out this sort of "editorial" oversight in the future.
there's millions of starving children in, um, I forget where. Isn't there a better use of time and money then yet another useless case mod? Its ironic that whatever drivers you throw on top to monitor performance are going to have -some- sort of hit.
None of this will make you a better person, clear up your acne or get you laid...
Anyone with an extra $50 burning that large a hole in their pocket should feel free to contact me and I'll give you a few worthy charities who could more deservingly use the cash.
A sounding board is a resonant surface. A soundboard is a mixing console. A $45 mixer would kick ass, trying to find a nice acoustically clean panel makes this somewhat less interesting.
There was a 70s-era innovation kinda like this that you could bolt into your sheetrock and have the -wall itself- become your sounding surface but it generally sounds crap.
Not as bad as all that -- It's worse

Easy, non-concerted Juice method:
1) Get static IP 2) Register domain name. 3) Set up servers as, oh, say, server0001-server1001.myhost.com. Virtually, of course (yay, Apache!) 4) Link to target of choice. Be sure to crosslink to all the other "servers" in the chain for maximum effect.
Gee, I'm glad these guys aren't wasting their time with anything trivial like quantum mechanics or understanding the Big Bang or anything. I'm so much happier now that I can color coordinate.
You can almost see the F*ckedcompany.com postings gearing up already, can't you?
How many debt/prepay instruments do we need? I've already got four credit cards in my wallet, each of which promised something fabulous, two ATM cards (one for each bank) and a handful of shopper cards.
Can't I just pay cash?
OBLIGATORY SLASHDOT PARANAOIA BAIT: Hey, did you ever think that they are TRACKING YOUR PURCHASES?!?!? MUHUHAHAHA!
1) Remove tinfoil from head. This will allow the FBI to read your thoughts and aliens to control your thinking, but this is LED SECURITY!! 2) Place tinfoil over LED (a) at a 45-degree angle reflecting the light towards LED(b). Poke a hole in the tinfoil to allow some light through. 3) Take tinfoil and make covering/receiving/reflecting receptor on LED(b).
When LED(a) lights, any scanning devices will be mercilessly confused by the colighting of LED(b). The secret bat equipment will be useless!
"The good news here is, with Linux loaded on a Zarus we should be able to use any of the great languages that Linux already supports to flood that market with good software."
Uh huh! Just like Linux has flooded the market already! All over the place! Can't turn around this shop here without knocking over a stack of 'em [and I -am- a Linux supporter...]
The problem with gnutella and a lot of P2P is that is assumes all peers are equal. When the primary routing goes through some over-bandwidthed, over-funded.com, peer to peer works okay, but when you're relying on your query to go through some yahoo with a 28.8, it ain't gonna fly too well.

That's a stupid form factor anyways this is a much better one...

I think I've got bigger things to worry about these days. Besides, not like anybody really cares, right?

Where's the free, uncensored, open-source online version, eh?
Oh, I suppose that's gnu.org...

I interviewed with a company a few months back that is actually doing that now:
Captus Networks. Damn, wish I'd actually accepted now...
