It's called being a parent - She needs to talk to her child to instill her values and beliefs in him, put the computer in a public location (ours is in the living room), and limit computer time to a "healthy" amount. (That is subjective, some people say less than an hour, some believe 20 hours per day is fine.) Other than that, you're right. A determined child will get around any restrictions - heck, it might even ENCOURAGE the behavior since it is now "off limits!"
Bah, you just need some training to fit in! Listen to this lady for a great start: YouTube - Ventrilo Harassment (The lesson starts about 1 minute in, I must say she is very creative.)
WARNING: There's a whole lotta foul language, so make sure you put on headphones if you're at work!
Why would you get modded down? The Slashdot mob seems to be increasingly anti-religion, and is starting to remind me of Fark.
I suppose I should explain that statement: Fark was fairly interesting and had some funny discussions, (along with BOOBIES!) but after a while it seemed that every topic had some religion bashing in it. I'm all for blindly bashing X company, but attacking someone's personal beliefs for amusement gets really old.
Note, I'm not talking about people who have polite discussions and present points regarding their own beliefs (either for or against religion), I'm talking about the ones that *hate* anything that even mentions a god.
Your original comment seemed like a "Bush thing" by the way it read:
"They're just following the example set by our leader" If you would have put the plural, then they might not have taken it as a direct jab at Bush.
(Just my thoughts, I didn't have any issue with the original comment, but could see how they could take it as yet another Bush joke/jab.)
There's nothing wrong with allowing one's previous experience to influence current decisions.
Let's say I've had troubles with a couple of EMC boxes and haven't had much luck with their support. Would you criticize me for excluding EMC products from future storage purchases???
Thank you for that analogy - I had never looked at it that way and had already resigned myself to not buying Sony products. Now, when the prices come down, I can buy a Sony HD TV and a PS3 with a clear conscience.
Besides, if you really wanted to fuck with her mind Geez I must be really tired - I read that as "if you really wanted to fuck with her from behind"!!! Imagine my disappointment when there were no helpful pointers!
I don't know... I had to delete GTA from my computer because I was becoming way too agressive; destroying car after car while trying to run over pedestrians. (The damn light poles in RL don't break off and fall away as nicely as the ones in GTA.)
If the book goes into detail and covers advanced configuration, it might still be worth it to me.
I don't want a box that just deflects outside attacks, I want a box that limits the type of connections coming from inside the network going to the outside world. (To only allow web access for the machines on the internal network.) I tinkered with Smoothwall and IPCop 3 years ago when I had Internet access at home, but never really dug into it and don't remember if it had the option to close down outgoing connections via the GUI.
What is your point? The message you replied to was attempting to be funny... To them, 3 145 looked similar to pi, so they suggested the GP post wasn't being geeky enough by taking pi out further, to 3.14159.
So, can I use Pepper Spray on my tacos? Does it have a nice flavor as well, or is it just insanely hot?
H-O-L-Y crap I must be tired - I originally read that as "bible humping!"
(scuttles off to say 1,000 "Hail Mary's")

Good luck to the control freak.

I believe this is their source:

It is clear both Mac and PC despise Linux in this insightful video.
(Warning, some coarse language.)
Thank God it ripped your arm clean off, instead of pulling you in. (After several well-deserved moments of screaming in anguish, of course.)
LINKS PLEASE!!!!

(When the prices come WAY down, that is.)
LOL, good burn. :)
Your math is off, it's 81.8181818181818181 (and so on.)

No, ranting and name calling reflect very poorly on a person's level of maturity.
Yeah, I always get screwed up on the spelling of youramateurporn.com, too.

"If I didn't feel robbed, cheated, and insulted in the movie theatre, where else could I go to feel like that?"Isn't that what marriage is for?
I'm glad you see how truly bad it is getting. Could you please convince your government to come and liberate us?
:)
(Or arrange for me to immigrate to New Zealand, whichever is easier.)
Damn, how long until I get modded -1 redundant. DOH! :)
(I swear, there was only one post on the front page when I pounced on him/her for not reading the summary!)
In the article summary:
"and the Gannons posted warnings about the system"

It doesn't matter if they come from the outside - it's still bringing more money into the community and creates a larger tax base.
Notepad++: Tabbed text editor! I used to use gvim, but I've found Notepad++ to be much easier for quick edits. (Then again, I'm not a vi ace.)
