There's no reason not to just shut the case. I know it's hard to fight the feeling that you need to pause (I still find my self pausing), but you're just going to shut the case after you pause anyway and the game stops on it's own when you shut the case so why bother pausing it and then shutting it?
On the other hand I do find my self hitting pause to exit a level I've already beaten before I die (like when I accidently jump into a pit or something). so I can see how that might suck. I have so many 1-ups I don't know why I bother doing this though.
Only a moron would spend $1,000 for a blu-ray player right now in my opinion.
What are you going to do with it? Watch one of the handfull of shitty movies that are out for it?
Wait 2 or 3 years and you'll get it for 1/4 that price and there will actually be something worth watching assuming the format doesn't completely fucking flop.
Video cards alone have come a long way in the past 5 years. Even if the Wii has a lower end card it'll still be quite a bit faster than the one in the GameCube.
I'm not sure why people seem to care so much about how fast the machine is. It has almost never mattered in the console wars. The PS2 is almost half the speed of the other consoles if not more and look how well it's doing.... Was the PS1 as fast as the N64? Look how well the slower DS is doing compared to the much faster PSP.
Like I said.. There were a FEW games that made it worth it for me. The first one I purchased was for GT3 when that came out and I got the console used. That was my game. I was a GT whore.
How did you get modded insightful for this?
I still stand by what I said. The PS2 was my least played console. The lack of good multiplayer was a HUGE reason for this. The horrible build quality also put a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't ENJOY having to buy the stupid thing 3 times just to play the hand full of games that I really really really liked for it.
Shoot you'll be able to surf the web with the Wii for much cheaper. The way they've been talking Opera is going to come standard with the Wii and it will be connected to the internet 24/7 (if you let it).
Speaking for my self: The lack of good multiplayer games (lack of 4 controller ports) and the shoddy hardware (I have personally owned 3 PS2's and several new controllers because they keep breaking). Now I did like some of the games on the PS2 so therefor it was worth owning, but I play it far far less than my Xbox(before it got stolen) and GameCube. Infact I haven't played it at all in almost 2 years(mine got stollen with my xbox but there is still one in our house and it never gets played). I still play my GameCube a few times a week. Our modded Xbox got a lot of play. I mostly used it for old SNES games, but now that we have some 360's nobody plays the old Xbox anymore.
For the PS3 the high price and the lack of any compelling games is killing it for me. I could care less about every game shown so far. The graphics don't look any better than the 360's from what I can tell and we already have 2 of those in the house so I doubt I will get a PS3.
Another thing he missed is the PSP. Do I even have to say anything about that? Atleast I've had good luck with the hardware thus far. It seems to be fairly good quality. I don't like how easy it is to scratch though.
In the scale of the universe 41 light years is pretty insignificant, but just because it's insignificant in a cosmic sense doesn't mean it's insignificant to a species stuck on a backwater planet on the fringe of one of many galaxies.
Dude. For us the 15 foot walk to change channels on the TV when you lost the remote is a significant distance.
There is no shock in the PS3 controllers though:-\ and have you used the 360 controllers yet? They are very nice. I loved the dual shock too, but I think the 360 controller is the best out right now.
Also I heard GTA4 was coming out on the 360 first, not at the same time.
When they spend 3 or 4 years and 50 million dollars to develop a game that caters to the hardcore gamer those ads are going to be real tempting to throw in there regardless of the fact that they might not want too. Especially when advertisers are waving money right in front of their faces and talking about all the untapped market.
It's driving me nuts that people here are actually saying they WANT ads in games or they just don't care..
I mean how can you not care? I'm not saying we should all do something about it. We all know it's going to happen eventually. The money is there and unless we all quit playing games it's going to happen if we like it or not.
but how could people not care? If every game already had ads and you asked everybody if they would like the ads removed who is not going to say yes?
I'm fine with ads in content I didn't have to pay for (regular tv, etc..) but in games? that I paid for? That I play to remove my self from reality after a hard days work? ugh.
I agree, but you know it's going to eventually go beyond a coke can on a table and that's what bothers me.
Advertisers see how big the market is and they'll want a piece of that. They'll be willing to pay for it, and game companies aren't going to turn them down. Especially with the rising development cost of games.
Eventually we'll all be wishing games didn't have ads kind of like how we wish regular TV didn't have so many ads.
Besides how does seeing a Coke truck on the side of the road help in any way at all with the game play of a game? You want realisim make the car drive better. Make the track more realistic. Any truck could be on the side of the road. The code ad doesn't fucking change anything. Your car still drives the same. It's still just a truck on the side of the road.
Get real.
I can't believe people are sitting here saying they actually WANT ads in games. LOL. That just blows my mind.
People pay for things like HBO and IGN subscriptions to avoid ads(among other reasons) and you guys are sitting here saying you enjoy ads? haha.. insane.
Blah. Yeah. I know, but it's still not even close to being realistic and if it was 100% realistic it probably wouldn't be any fun at all. or it would be for 1 version of the game.. but 3 versions later? it would be old.
but think about it this way. who really likes to see ads? I mean come on. If you ask the world if they would rather have no ads in tv most of them are going to say HELL YEAH. That's because there has pretty much always been ads and we're sick of it.
Most games these days don't have ads. So I guess most people don't think they care, but they do.
If ALL games had ads in them for the past 5 or 10 years and you did this poll asking if people would enjoy games WITHOUT ads everybody would be like hell yeah get rid of those fucking annoying ads. You know its true.
Well it's going to get to that point where most all games have ads in them (It's just too huge of a market to ignore.. way too many people play games for advertisers to ignore it.. Also the cost of developing games for hardcore gamers is getting way high and they need other ways to make money off the game with out making the price of the game too high).. You know we're all going to be regretting this one day. Thinking back to the good old days of not having ads constantly being thrown in our face while we play games.
Our kids will probably never even know what it's like to play a game that doesn't have ads in it.
I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong? Maybe I'm not. What ever. I just know I don't enjoy ads in games and it's not going to be the occasional Coke truck on the side of the road for realisim. It's going to get worse and worse.
102,138 Jr. Bacon Cheese Burgers.
There's no reason not to just shut the case. So what part of this makes you laugh?
The Sudoku game I heard about has something like 400 puzzles hand picked by the original creators so it is probably worth looking forward to.
I HIGHTLY suggest you go buy Kirby Canvas Curse, Meteos and Metroid Prime: Hunters.
All of those games make great use of the stylus. Kirby Canvas Cruse and Meteos are played only with the stylus and they are GREAT.
Meteos is a fast paced tetris style puzzle game so if you're not into those don't bother (but it's the best I've ever played).
Kirby Canvas Curse is a MUST HAVE in my opinion.
There might also be a problem with speach in games like Brain Age.. Saying the word "blue" doesn't work well, etc..
Also importing voides your warranty.
Other than that there is no difference that I know of. Every game works, and you can swtich the language back to English.
Yeah. You're right, but I wish they hadn't changed it. I liked the clickyness. The GBA:SP (or atleast my newer one) has it too.
The new buttons just feel mushy in comparison. I don't like it at all. It doesn't feel as clean.
Is it possible to have proper democratic discussions with RMS?
Only a moron would spend $1,000 for a blu-ray player right now in my opinion.

Not the fastest selling game ever. The latest Final Fantasy sold almost 2 million (1.7 or something?) in its first week not to long ago.
Not to take away from NSMB. It sold nearly 900,000 in its first 4 days. That's amazing.
Video cards alone have come a long way in the past 5 years. Even if the Wii has a lower end card it'll still be quite a bit faster than the one in the GameCube.

Last week in Japan the DS out sold the PSP by almost 10:1 and The New Super Mario Bros. game sold almost 900,000 copies in that same week.

So if I can afford a car I can afford a house with a garage to put it in?
Dude. For us the 15 foot walk to change channels on the TV when you lost the remote is a significant distance.

Exactly. You read my freaking mind.
