    ... and for that, I am thankful. It was quite a feat,back then, to show rendered 3D animation (even if it was postage stamp-sized) with a 33mHz computer and a single speed CDROM.

    Come to think of it, she voted against Wil twice in the first two rounds, so Wil probably was ticked off and got even on round 3 when she gets voted off...

    When your machine boots up, Windows will be confused for a little bit, but will detect all your hardware as new, reboot itself a few times, and then you'll be up and running again.

    Ha! Not under XP it won't... You'll have to call someone at MS to issue a new Product ID to activate your PC.

    The goals of this SOE are to prevent users from installing unlicensed software, plus some support issues.

    SOEs are fine for USERS, not for developers. Silly PHB. Such an endeavor is doomed to fail. I work at a place where an SOE in force. Development groups usually get special exception to obtain admin rights or else they couldn't even get off the ground.
    The real problem is that management never thinks of implementing multiple tiers : More restrictions on Office worker types, less for development -- AND NONE FOR LABS! If you're on the group who's testing, say, WinXP(Chi-Rho) for deployment, you can't be fighting 'access denied' all day.

    Would you be interested in becoming a (scifi/hollywoood/?) contributor to Slashdot (a la Jon Katz)? I'm sure you could get lots of exclusives from Paramount, actor friends etc ...

    .. assuming of course you're prepared to be a lightning rod for all the Katz-haters cum Wesley-haters ;-)

    The article is in French, the title could be translated as "Piracy, wireless and cabriolet version". In short, the reporter and a security expert drove downtown Montreal with a 802.11b equipped laptop running NetStumbler and were able to sniff out packets from four office towers.
