  1. Re:You'll be wanting to {up|down}grade the kernel. on S.u.S.E 6.2 English released · · Score: 1

SuSE is quite good for the newbie. It got a great manual shipped with it, not to talk about the cds full of programs. YaST is a great tool when you want to install Linux to a computer with no cd-rom attached.
The hype about SuSE only running with SuSE-Kernels is all LIES! I installed a SuSE 6.0 and upgraded to 2.0.37 from kernel.org. It booted without any flaws.

AFAIK the only difference in the SuSE-Kernel is the added support for ISDN but I'm no expert.

The downside with SuSE is, that the scripts are very stuffed and almost unreadable to a newbie. With this, you could say, a Slackware is better for the newbie... =:-)

    The correct three questions are:

    1. Who are you?
    2. What do you want?

This is the standard, when someone rings at my door and I do not expect anyone to come by.

I for myself would apreciate ANYTHING included in the Linux-Kernel. Since I can configurate my own kernel to be compiled, I do not have to use all of them. But hey, I rather have Linux being able to do something I don't need, than to not being able to do something I need!
Any feature is great, when it's implemented right and works properly.

  6. Finally a good cause to use cloning for! on Cloning of extinct Huia bird approved · · Score: 1

The Subject already says it all. I think, THAT is what cloning can be good for. What do we want to clone humans? Even if the DNA is all the same, there never will be two absolutely same humans! Growing up, learning things, experiencing things etc. is what builds the personality. You simply can't clone that!

On the other hand: Why clone extinct animals? Maybe evolution wanted this race to disappear? No-one really knows. Mankind already dug too deep in the business of nature. I hope, we all won't regret it one day.

Hell, anyone can use in his desktop, what he/she likes. If someone likes Windows, well, let him die stupid and do your own thing.

I say: Use the best of both worlds! Use KDE AND Gnome! Both of them do a great job in coding useful programs.
