"if we want a better outcome, we need to evolve our approach"
Note the way in which "better outcome" is just oh-so-casually identified with a factor other than something material to the business like "profit". I guess the "chief diversity & inclusion officer" just measures & affects what she can. It falls to someone else to bridge the logical chasm between those and useful business metrics.
"You can make fictional people be anything you want, that's what fiction is."
People might not notice when someone is message-fictioning to them a little bit. But if it's overt and purposeful, it will repel those whose politics are not in line with the creator. "But it's only fiction" is not an all-powerful defence - if anything it's cynical.
In context, we're talking about having the media deliberately lie about representing actual people. Forgive my skepticism about whether lying in a beneficial way (literally propaganda) is really a good idea.
If you construe taxes as payment for services, please identify the specific US services that were used by the foreign operations of these companies that you wish them to pay for.
Saving money is not "hoarding". Keeping it from the "taxman" is not only financially proper but morally ethical. Y'all fawning over the possible tax bill are just weaponizing your envy for the fruits of someone else's labour.
An autopilot that gives up control without the driver/pilot having situational awareness is worse in emergencies than no autopilot. They breed complacency in the driver/pilot, who cannot flip into effective engagement instantly.
"social justice is, in fact, something we should strive for, and I'm in favor of that part of the pledge of allegiance saying "with liberty and justice for all""
The trouble is that "social justice" might be "social", but it sure ain't "justice".
So crunching some numbers. Hard math ahead, watch out: So one spends 2 decades in school. Works for 5 decades. Is on pension for 5 more decades. So one's productive for less than half of one's whole life, and during that time one must support oneself and another unproductive person (young or old).
The presumption that there is only one "correct way" is a lie.
Washington Post "journalists" are making me love white supremacist, racist, sexist, anti-everything discourse...
so the question is meaningless right?
Without that, we might forget that the culture war is permeating more and more of our daily lives.
"The Hugo award, voted on by members of the fan community, is considered [by whom] the highest honour for science fiction and fantasy literature"

.. and have a ton of grade inflation in high school.
Well anyway, they'll have their diversity good and hard, as no self-respecting academic would want to go to a school that lets in just anyone.
Those "recognized" intelligences are BS invented to make the less-intelligent feel better about themselves.

Thank goodness SJVN has no power to enforce the conclusions of his goofy logic.
"LGBTXYZ" is an acronym-alliance of political convenience only. The letters represent different groups with different characteristics and interests.

You make it sound like we all owe for Pax Americana.

Excellent point.
I look forward to the day when one doesn't need to post such comments anonymously.
