Well, the 4K/20K comparison comment is less a bash on Word and more of an example to help people understand exactly how small the space was that people had to work with back then. (So they used a very familiar current example - who hasn't used Word?)
When you have a website or write articles, you can phrase your commentary however you want.
Well, if the games are the best, people will put up with the device's shortcomings. It doesn't mean they don't want a backlit screen, though.
The decision not to do this definitely has to do with battery life. I've heard that the Afterburner kit (backlight mod for GBA) really sucks down the power.
Wow... Should I even bother to mention that Lik-Sang is neither a hardware manufacturer, nor do they sell only "piracy/cheat" devices, as you call them? They sell many things; you should actually visit their site sometime. Also, you are insanely stupid and everything you said was clearly wrong.
The poster was not making arguments about which was more popular. The poster was making a comment on the quality of linux distro's vs. Mac OS X.
Right. And the guy you responded to was asking, "If it's so much better, then why are fewer people using it?" See how he's making that connection, there?
Where I'm from "import" CDs usually sell for between $20-30, due to the fact that they have to be imported. Are you saying that there are retailers who are selling pirated CDs at import prices, and people are buying them? That makes no sense at all.
He did seem, in fact, to be saying exactly that. And it made perfect sense. Stupid people didn't look closely enough to see that they were buying a CD-R before purchase. They paid extra because it said "import" on it and they were gullible and fell for it.
The idea that people who behave in a "suspicious" manner need to be carefully watched by the government is scary. Do you yourself exhibit any unusual or individualistic qualities - any odd patterns of purchasing - any slight brushes with the law; i.e. speeding tickets, DUI, trespassing (trying to name the most common misdemeanors people commit here), etc. You are now in a government database, and they are tracking you.
You're exactly right. It is, as you say, very odd that there are so many 5 posts on Slashdot. You'd think once it got up to 3 or 4, people wouldn't continue to throw points at it unless it was really great, but soon enough, someone does it anyway.
Another good example of this phenomenon can be seen at The Daily Victim. The ratings for the daily comic usually include a healthy dose of 10's, some more normal ratings, and, even on some of the really funny ones, a whole boatload of 1's.
It's up to you to decide whether that's because of the binary mind thing you suggested, or because the Daily Victim is frequented by a lot of stupid kids, of course.
I agree with you, but I doubt it will stop someone from bringing the lawsuit, and creating not only a problem for the company, but a public annoyance as well.
Can ordinary people get attacked and have their stuff taken, or only "Outlaws"? If everyone can be attacked, then this thing is a breeding ground for lawsuits. Let's say you just invested large amounts of money in some nice weapons and armor. Now, some guy comes along and takes all of it from you. You've just suffered real world financial damage. It's lawsuit time. Bear in mind, I'm not saying the lawsuit necessarily has much validity, but simply that it is very, very likely to be filed by the "victim".
He also probably imagines that a beta version of the game probably has things like the character animations correct already. Do you, in all of your condescending brilliance, believe that they need to do all of their graphics coding in the one month they have left before it ships?
Exactly! GUIs are great in Linux until something - ANYTHING - goes wrong. If you are unable to work with the command line at that point, you're completely screwed.
But, what if I just like looking at K&R? Are Slashdot people going to keep griping about it? Yeesh - I never even knew that bracketing styles had their own fucking terminology before. I guess I just haven't been around long enough.
I'll just keep doing what I've been doing. It seems readable enough to me.
Yeah, I actually have two, since I still have the same Tekram P3 board I've had for a couple of years. I bought a SB Vibra PnP for $10 just so I could kick Tyrian 2000 around the other day.:)
If I need to upgrade past about 800 MHz, I doubt my MB will support it, thought.
Still pretty sure it won't work...

If you have a PCI sound card, I seriously doubt you will get this thing to work under Windows. There is some sort of ISA SB emulator available for Windows NT/2000 called VDMSound, but I'm still running lowly Windows 98.
As about a billion other posters have already pointed out, however, Exult is a solution that is very nice, and does not have this limitation.
How about:
:)
Homer is looking deathly ill, and his giant sandwich is sitting in the trashcan.
Homer: This is all your fault? Oh, how could I stay mad at you...?
Then Marge has to slap the sandwich out of his hands.
Heh. It was on Fox yesterday, in my area at least.
What? We don't count as people any more?
Nope. They don't hand you your person certification until you get your degree.

False Dichot. Between environment and genes, you've left out free will!
Uh.... that's part of environment.
SARCASM. Look it up. Christ, no one around here can take a joke at all!
Actually, the afterburner is not really a backlight. Whoops. Better go back to readin' school I guess.

I am still a mac classic user

Yeesh!! Get with the times, man!

Holy crap, that wasn't funny. In fact, the guy right above you posted the exact same fucking thing. Now, don't you feel ashamed of yourself?

You're right. People shouldn't post opinions on a discussion forum. Glad you pointed that out!

That was probably the funniest comment ever, right there.

Don't you think that last one is going too far? We'd be worse than he is!!
