    Makes perfect sense to have the default PF dir as the os native one.

    And you should know this one to. To allow easy recompilation of programs that assume System32 is the System Dir. Yes this should be System64 but MS obviously knew that this would fuck up a lot of major applications and that versions would take longer so they decided to do it that way.

    MS's main mistake in 64/32 windows is that from 7 there should only be one version and 32 should only be installed if thats all the hardware supports, leave nothing to the idiots.... .er users.

    In what way could that make any sense. A page file in ram would have to be limited to the ram size and the ram would provide more performance in being ram. thus to increase performance you would turn off the page file. (and yes this holds true with windows too)

    Wheather a need is physical or psychological really does not matter and it is quite offensive that you would treat them differently.

    However as usual the solution is not to ban everybody from doing something because a few cannot control themselves. (which as far as I am concered applies to phsical addiction as much as psychological )

    The solution is to support these people and provide help.

    Your bias towards only caring about physical addiction and not about psychological shows the problems such people face and shows that until things change there is a need to ban everybody.

    Simply put you are your own worst enemy.

    Look even my ST owning mate now admits it. The ST Was a poor cousin to the amiga. The only reason it did not die a quick death was the midi port and the music industry. Though $20 midi interfaces were available on the amiga, the st had it inbuilt. That was the only reason the ST lastest. It was not a good reason. Atari just produced the ST cause they got shafted by amiga. It was an odd situation but please stop trying to say the st was any good. Yes it was better than x, but amiga class? NO.

    Not to take one side or the other but your argument makes no sense.

    SHould things be leagal then.

    i. The 'crackheads' would not be walking down the street all the time to the house on the corner. They would have bought there drugs from a reputable person, a house on the corner is not a commercial property and would not be allowed to sell for the irritation it causes. They would also probably be at home as they bought there drugs at a reasonable time when thery were near a shop.

    ii. Yout neighbour also in the legalised world would not have a meth lab. again not a commercial property and thus not allowed also he would not want to as he could not compete with the big corperations.

    So again what is your problem?

    This would not be DRM. Just sense.

    1. Game asks server for connection.

    2. Server responds. game not released, kindly piss off. (and this could not be interfered with since they server knows the time and then closes connection with failure message)

    3. Customer goes back to doing something else for a week and returns when server is working and it mildly mad at retailer for selling game early.

    As far as I can tell this is just about them stopping testing for such platforms. That is, it is not about requirements but about testing resources.

    It will probably work but they are not going to guarantee it.

    At most I would expect a warning message on installation.

    And if it were just the serial key and no DRM, then using the same key would work and you could install it on your friends machine anyway.

    Is this really going to be just a serial, or really remote authorisation?

    Or to put it anotherr way, how DRM FREE is there DRM FREE?

    I'm not even going to bother discussing if they should or should not use DRM, I just wish they would not lie to us about using it.

    Well, since you ask.

    1. When they are immediate. Some games are (and NEED to be) very large, this is hardly immidiate. If it's over an hour to wait I could easily go out and purchase the game quicker.

    2. When they are not restrictive. I have very old games that I still lvoe to play. This means I need to be able in install my game on any machine I like when I like. This generally equated to DRM free. And DRM free includea activation of any kind. I want to play it when I want to, I may be without phone/internet etc. I want to install and go. Machines change, but drm may stop me from playing it in a "emulator" (computers may change so much that I need to emulate my old hardware to play the game, however I still want to be able to do it) or on some classic machnie I have cobbled together out of old bits people have given me (which is way better than the machine I played on back in the day as the expensive stuff then is still junk now!)

    These may sound liek a lot of requests but they are not. 1 is outside of the game producers infulence (as it should be) but 2 certainly aint hard to do.

    Not to freak you out cos I'm sure we are on the same side, but......

    Physical really means nothing.

    You only have to defeat DRM once weather physical or download.

    Should you care about defeating it when you can you will. So no difference to you.

    Plus even though it is technically possible I doubt they would remotely update the drm, as the entire file would need updating, this would take time and piss people off.

    Your only problem with DRM downloads as your 3rd paragraph indicates is that if it is not cracked then you may lose access to it.

    Personally I would not buy it unless it was cracked already. I cannot chance that some company has envisaged all the ways I may want to use the media I buy.
