The only case about third parties unlocking then selling was settled, and an injunction issued as part of the settlement, as agreed upon by the parties involved. The court issued the injunction at the parties' request, not on it's own behalf. So as of now, the only thing set in stone is the DMCA exemption. Whether a third party can do it or not has not been decided in court.

What kind of dumb person would want to eradicate something that causes cancer? It makes absolutely no sense to me. Fuck vaccines, yay diseases!

    Troll much?

Let's go over this, shall we? First, your process:

Search on iTunes for music you want. (5-10 minutes)
Drive to Best Buy. (Best case: 5 minutes to get there/get inside, 5 minutes to find/purchase, 5 minutes to get home = 15 minutes. Cost: $12 + gas)
Rip music to computer. (5 minutes)

Best case scenario: 30 minutes, $12 + gas

    Any other reasonable person's process:

Search on iTunes for music you want. (5-10 minutes)
    Purchase/download music. (5-10 minutes. $10)
Burn to CD. (5 minutes, $0.25)
    Rip to computer. (5 minutes)

Best case scenario (And this is far from the best case): 20 minutes, $10.25

No DRM, costs less, and takes less time (and probably a significant amount less). The only valid complaint you have is about audio quality, and well, I've always thought that anyone who actually expects great audio quality from something that fits in your pocket is missing the point of portable audio.

I hate responding to trolls, but I love making fun of people who like to hear themselves talk, and make retarded statements.

Not to mention you complain about never really owning the music due to DRM, yet you talk about copying a friend's collection. WTF?

Where in the world are you buying your cable TV from? Or is this one of those classic Slashdot price exaggerations like "CD's cost $20" when they really cost $12 from any large retailer? (Even the grossly overpriced music stores in the mall charge $18 or so for a CD)

Let me explain what he means briefly (or is perhaps alluding to in a less extreme manner):

There are only THREE channels that I would like cable/satellite for. I can't put up a satellite dish at my apartment (because of the way it faces), so cable is the only option. What are these channels?

Comedy Central and Cartoon Network require digital cable (through Time Warner). This costs ~$50 a month.
Speed Channel. This requires the sports package. That's an ADDITIONAL $10 a month.

I don't really care about any others, except when I can afford an HDTV (at which point the cost of cable won't be much of an issue). So I have to pay ~$60 a month to watch three channels frequently. I'd MUCH rather pay, say, $15 a month and get only those three. But instead, I pay $0, and suffer the horrible, painful consequences (like posting on /.).
