    All relevant parts of Chrome, JavaScript and HTML engines, plugin architecture, etc are open source. Additionally Chrome has far fewer proprietary extensions then IE ever had. It's just that Edge still does not support basic stuff like Formdata.

  3. I just tried your software for Linux, it does nothing that cannot be done with a few shell scripts. If you went through the trouble GUI make the most of the interface, provide documentation and make it intuitive. Perhaps the most common use case could be turned into a wizard and the documentation should be rewritten in clear non preachy-ranty prose.

    I've long since switched to Chrome, It seems Firefox abandoned Linux user years ago, from dropping flash support to not implementing a proper sandbox to broken GPU acceleration its clear Linux is not a priority for Firefox.

    Linux has moved to encrypted binary log files[1], unfortunately, a vocal minority of older system admins and developers refuse to see the necessity of this feature.

  9. Dual booting Windows 95 and DOS worked.(Provided you use Fat16)
    Dual booting dual booting any version of Ubuntu works.
    The Fedora upgrade process creates a temporary entry in grub to load an upgrade OS that upgrades your normal OS.
    Dual booting most modern version of Windows works.(With the exception of Windows NT 5 and 2000 b/c of file system incompatibilities)
    Windows fully supports loading Linux from it's boot manger, although most users use grub instead.

    AMD hardware is trash, Linux should not support it. My Intel Xeon 5472 (from 2007) from is twice as fast as the AMD A8 5600K(2012) in the GeekBench 3 multicore benchmark and competitive in most other benchmarks. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-...

    Create an admin user then create another unprivileged account. Use this account to do your work. Windows will still download window s 10 but the installer will ask for the admin account before installing.

If the article show was about a clinical trial examining the claim of the creators or the tech used to develop this rather unusual exercise plan I would understand, only the method of delivery has any relation to tech which is hardly novel to anyone on slashdot. This article is just an attempt the get more people to examin their content.

    i. Specify a portable way to isolate processes into groups? (This is why it's possible to build an advanced init system on Linux and Solaris)

    ii. Have an API to expose the features of the next gen file-systems, like Zfs and Btrfs.

    iii. Deal with virtualization at the OS level.(Containers[Linux] and Zones[Solaris])

    POSIX compatibility cripples server software and the major desktop operating systems ignore POSIX(Windows) or abstract most of the core functionality from the app developer(Mac OS X).

    The wipe EFI data on linux you need systemd, to wipe the EFI data on windows you need 20 lines of code.
