A few years ago, all the Radio Shacks in Canada were changed into mini "Circuit Cities," branded as "The Source - By Circuit City" - They were the same size as a Radio Shack, but under the Circuit City brand. I wonder what will happen to them...
The article mentions that they'll continue to operate.
No, the file system may support it but the SDXC standard will top out at 2TB. That way, after you buy all new kit this round they can get you to buy something else when they come up with their NEXT standard. It's called planned obsolescence, see the previous transition from SD to SDHC and this forthcoming transition from SDHC to SDXC. You really think they aren't planning to milk this cow every couple of years for as long as they can, rather than do it right and just come up with ONE standard that'll have headroom in the hardware logic to match that 16 EiB limit on the file system.
any different from what Gametap has been doing for quite some time now. In fact I had to go fiddling around in the settings to turn it off to make sure when I've 'downloaded' a game it's really fully downloaded so I wont get hit with some very annoying lag in certain cut-scenes as they'd be 'dynamically loading' from the servers just as they were supposed to be playing. I'm more than happy to just wait an extra few minutes to get everything local rather than bother with this type of thing.
Because they've already had to extend the testing deadline twice for lack of enough submissions and someone's got around to submitting it to a few sites like/. in hopes of getting more people involved, that's why.
When I hear of space fighter dogfighting I'm expecting to see something I can pull out my old underused Logitech Attack 3 to play, something with a damn cockpit view. That trailer does NOT deliver the goods I'm looking for in a space shooter. Boo.
If you can find penguins, hovering or not, in the ARCTIC, I as a proponent of the Canadian Seal Hunt(TM) would definitely be interesting in locating this new potential renewable resource/way of pissing off brown-nosing celebrities.
Dude, check eBay. There are PLENTY of CF -> 2.5" IDE adapters to be had CHEAP. Sure they're not exactly name-brand products, getting shipped out of Hong Kong or wherever, but hell I've got a 10 year old Compaq laptop that's currently running off of an SD card sitting in an SD->CF adapter plugged into a CF-> 2.5" IDE adapter. The old hard drive I had for it was riddled with bad sectors, cost me less than $20 to get that old box up and running again.
Just did a search for 'CF IDE adapter' and the first half-dozen items popped up were all $5 'buy it now' with free shipping.
Nipples rock! It's the best part of my old Compaq LTE 5300
Side note, just for kicks I'm running SD->CF->2.5 IDE adapters instead of a hard drive in it, and with the passive heatsink on the P1 in that sucker that thing runs SILENT. Screen's in surprisingly good condition given its age. A bit annoying when it comes to installing an OS on it though, what with it pre-dating bootable CD-ROMs and all...
Well the last time I checked most stations that 'go off the air' really don't, they just switch from actual programming to some really annoying tone squealing over a test pattern.
Actually it was done and sitting in a can for over a year while Boll was running around trying to find a distributor for it. He just finally found a taker.
Jordan had finished the outline for the 12th, and reportedly final, book before he passed away. I stopped reading at around book 9 myself, but might get around to goingthrough those last few books if this new author does indeed give us an end.
Ridley Scott was fighting the studio tooth and nail to keep that voice over out as well, hence it's complete removal from the Director's Cut and Final Cut versions.
That's simply an issue with Divx's decoder not fully supporting the spec, similar to how certain h.264 encoded videos with some of the more advanced features enabled can't be played back on the ipod. The only reason not to support the full spec in software would be hardware limitations, which shouldn't be an issue for either the PS3 or 360.
Blu-Ray has an optional second layer of DRM overtop the required AACS layer, BD+.
Note the required bit I just mentioned, on HD-DVD the AACS layer is optional but on Blu-Ray it is a standard requirement for all commercially-pressed discs. I remember reading about this some months back about some smaller indie studios only releasing on HD-DVD simply because they could forego paying license fees to the AACS people (fees that cut into limited profit margins) and just release their discs DRM-free. That's not an option on Blu-Ray.
I didn't have a problem with canceling my eMusic account. It's been several months since I went through it, but if memory serves it was just a click or two, and I don't remember exactly but there may have been a confirmation email I had to click a link from. All par for the course for typical website subscriptions in my experience.
Damn straight 6.2 rocked! I still have my old install floppies for it (well, technically a set of 6.0 install floppies along with the 6.2 upgrade disc).
In my opinion (here's where I become an asshole) it takes a particularly immature mind to believe that downloading commercially sold entertainment in an illegal fashion is somehow the morally superior alternative.
But in all fairness, the way I read it he wasn't even claiming it to be the morally superior method of watching, just the most convenient.
A more interesting question would be how these things hold up when used for swap.
Vista has its "ReadyBoost" feature which AFAIK is pretty much like using a USB flash drive as a kind of specialized swap file. While I have no firsthand experience, but I imagine some googling could yield some info, Vista's been out long enough that if people's flash drives were gonna die from using it that way then someone's would have croaked by now and blogged about it.
Dude, the first OZ book was published in 1900. The 15th book they mention was published in 1921. There's actually some 40 books in total considered 'canon' along side a pile of either unauthorized or non-canonical novels set in Oz as well.

FYI the aforementioned Boxee hack for AppleTV is actually an XBMC fork.

Even if the design was patentable, said patent would have expired decades ago by now anyway.

No, the folks over at Slysoft seem to have broken that too.

News for nerds. Stuff that matters.
Del Toro didn't direct The Orphanage, here merely 'presented' it (sorta like like half the movies with Tarantino's name splashed across the cover).
