Apps is massively competitive space. Yahoo will never have that differentiation or edge among 100 other popular weather apps to keep them going for any foreseeable future.
While I agree with registry point and it can indeed be useful. Even if corporations are unwilling to do it themselves it should not be that difficult in todays age of social media "apps" to put together contact and skill details of people looking for job there by providing easy access to talent for corporations. This can be done by anyone from local employment office to countless industry bodies.
If the talent pool is really good and competitive, corporations will get attracted for dip.
But the core interest corporations have in cheap foreign labor is to maintain their competitiveness(and therefore fat bonuses annually).
By having them contribute to training locals or increasing wages of foreigners above market rates dont really cut it for them.
Another way to look at this would be if there really is lot of inert talent available they can start their own corporations and try to compete with these other corporations. Of course such new corporations will pay fair wages and hire only exceptionally available local talent while those importing cheap foreign labors will go out of business before long because of poor quality of work they pay for.
This is becoming popular PR stunt for making people look other way from no humans involved in operations.
But we are green so we are cool people you know.
On related note, isn't it illegal for normal citizens to gain illegal access to corporate systems(a.k.a hack) and enforced by prison sentence.
What is this double standards in free countries.
The same can be said about India's image in US.
I don't see US giving warm welcomes to foreign monitoring stations here and going we want to work together to create better environment.
It is a lot safer bet to assume everyone is acting in their self interest.
There is no point in giving credibility just because someone says their intentions are benevolent or going hey we are U.S of A we are the only country who can make this world better so you can trust us. Promise we are good guys.
... such information will not be used by other Google properties without your consent.
This reminds of annoying pop up asking for consent every time I try to use Location services on my phone.
In other cases it is just some check box ticked by default hidden under layers of settings. But hey it is my consent after all.
Why cant Google have another channel that by-passes carries for security updates.
We are not talking about major update with new features that would break everything carriers have done on top.
How difficult it would be to have a Google Security app with system level permissions to fix OS bugs?
It can as simple as Windows update if security is too scary for average Joe.
Many people that share political/religious items do not care if they are false.
People dont care but Facebook seemingly cares and wants to get rid of them from news feed.
Maybe its their idea of improving site, may be it is to collect more personal data.
Or may be all those spam posts are making their spy algorithms go nuts.
What they are saying is that it is possible by some technical means to hack secure networks.
How long till others figure this out and exploits are in wild.
It would be interesting to see how banks and online businesses(Visa, Mastercards, etc) explain how their networks are secure if some teen can snoop into it from his basement and show off his h33t h4x0r skills.
To do similar thing in Linux for modifying files/startup/VSS might require approach which OS might not allow. In other words it will be difficult to make malware do those things in OS.
Infecting Linux file system which is also on Windows network with write access might expose it to attack from Windows. In this case you are right, malwares incompatibility with file system is pretty weak defense.
But security provided by OS in allowing those operations to be performed can also be factor between two OSes.
But doing it right will take more time. Now we certainly don't want to wait when it means we are losing profitable cloud data on our customers, do we?
We want to sell and collect as much as we can not build something that is better for public. Where is money in doing that?
To sell Bing search and map services.
Apparently its easier to skin new browser with these defaults than change the reputation of IE or make these services default on any other browser.
The significance of testing is not to solve problem in best possible way or find new solution to established best practices.
It measures learning of basic principles and to use those principles to come up with solution. Here process is more important than final product.
As for problems that have already been solved the practices and optimizations that have been attained in respective areas should already be part of learning process. More like top down approach than bottom up.
Hierarchy is inherently by power over those below, say in taking decisions for them and making them follow those.
The problem occurs when this is misused and it can always be in a organisation where one party has more control over decisions than others.
Not just due to difference in interest of two parties, most common misuse is where this extra control is used to increase existing control itself thereby increasing power gap further.
This is the potential future of convenience. With NFC and actual secure chips, you should be able to use your phone for ID verification, boarding passes, purchases, hotel rentals, rental car "keys", and everything else you need.
Properly implemented....
Not going near it until process is more transparent about data collection and retention practices and each activity is sand boxed properly.
Unfortunately not many can be bothered to check what they are getting themselves into and then need to cry together with other victims allowing Big Brother to step in and take advantage of fiasco with so called necessary security and safety measures for public benefit of all.
That way skilled people making mistakes are even more susceptible to being ignored because they may feel responsible knowing their mistakes and try to take blame themselves. Further allowing incompetents to get away from responsibility of their actions.
So, other than some moronic social experiment of "information wants to be free so if you see what's in my fridge what's the harm"... what the hell would I want one for? What benefit does it give me? It's just another stupid, insecure application which wants to tie into a smart phone so I can feel all hip and cool.
Well you may not want it due to security issues. But there are many who would just buy it because its has one latest and greatest feature available on market(even if useless/unwanted) or simply because its the most expensive thing available.
Look I can turn off my fridge light with this app. Its off now. Now on. Now off.
Go to see open door, it should be off, oh well..
On the other side if I am manufacturer and can charge a premium for showing your spam mails on fridge, I will make sure my marketing team sells you one.
Security, you ask? Well thats just someone else problem to fix. You were targeted specifically and company cannot be held responsible. We should catch that thief and make sure he lands prison. That will teach him a lesson hacking someones fridge on internet. Who does he thinks he is sending arbitrary keystrokes floating on internet causing cold to other fridges.
Isn't this how it works nowadays in Tech Industry. May be it is new management principle.
Buy off competitor (or in this case take a chance with Nokia) worst case it didn't work out to your benefit then close off business. Whats there to lose - few numbers less companies cash pile, fire some guy to appease shareholders.
Rinse and Repeat till:
a) You run out of cash pile/people to fire
b) You luck out on some partial or complete successful product which could just be pay off investment in development.
They can be removed if you have unlocked the bootloader and flashed an OS image that contains su. Then you can become root, remount the OS partition read-write, and remove the apps completely.
And void warranty and support on your device in the process.
90% sad 10% happy
Wow. Sure seems lot of people liking it.

You seemed to have a few too:

6) $Profit$

She/He could also help if this was due to medical incapacity of copilot.

From the TFS:
"Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle (IXV)"
Its not model number. Its abbreviation.

It will be effective for Government and corporations to sell their wares. No we don't do that anymore our responsible government has made it illegal.

Apple rather thinks that you can boast around with bigger number to rest of the world. Bigger the better right?
