MRSA is a specific strain of staph that is resistant. The disturbing thing in the US is that outbreaks are very common too but we don't seem to be as concerned about it here. Infact we wait until there is an epidemic! There are more regulations about water heater placement and location than infection control.
"The marginal cost is close to zero, since those guys would still be collecting their salaries"
Yeah right dream on for "close to zero", perhaps the lead attorneys are in house or external on retainer. However the vast cost of paperwork, discovery etc is often left to an army of paralegals =$$$$

Nope I don't agree, How is a violent uprising a significant achievement you would put on your resume (french revolution)
Do you know how much a trial and discovery cost a large company?
I would bet it would cost MS 1 million each month a case is opened and multiples of that amount later on. So its best to wait to get enough for a prima facia (case stands on its own merits)
In the case of mono, MS would be best waiting for them to see damages, ie a customer that considered.net went with mono instead.
"They could've "embraced" Linux earlier, but why? That would be like a contest on a reality tv show telling the other contestants that it's ok to kick him off the island."
Its not called the innovators dilemma for nothing! If you haven't read the book (Innovators dilemma) by Christensen I would recommend it. This is a natural cycle of business, but how companies deal with it sorts the weak from the strong.
There are a percentage of broadband users who swap music and films illegally, and that may be the only reason they bought broadband. However....
A percentage of broadband users actually do WORK using broadband. Tele-commuting is actually real, and not just for programmers or techies, open your eyes a little. Next time you talk to a customer service rep you could be talking to someone at home with a broadband connection.
Another percentage of users play games over broadband. Thats real too
Another percentage use webcams to contact loved ones
Another percentage do legit file downloading, ie applications, updates.
Remember the problems AOL had with dialup, people were getting dialtone hell. Some filed suits with AOL. They know the difference between dialup and broadband
Are you sure of that, you are allowed photos in small claims, especially in California
What kind of proof should I bring?
Bring any papers that support your story. This is called "evidence." Evidence can be:
* Contracts
* Estimates (if you're fighting over how much it costs to fix something, bring at least 2 estimates)
* Bills
* Photographs
* Diagrams that show how an accident happened
* Police reports
The fact you have no idea who Hamilton is and yet identify Gosling and Arnold is like asking why the windows 95 folks aren't showing up at a windows 2003 event.
If you want to solve something you need to get to the root of the cause. IBM just buying SCO doesn't work, because now Novell has already stated there is some confusion about what SCO actually own.
I have a pda amongst other things, the killer today is battery power. Want to use wireless, guess what, you get even less battery usage.I am forever charging the damn thing, ie its tethered.
The killer app could be wireless recharging but until then batteries have got to be better and devices need less power. I would expect nanotechnology to be the real breakthrough there or organic computing:*)
But you know he's right. It used to be "if you're over 50". The rate of job outsourcing even at my company is incredible, there is going to be little or no new job creation in the USA or western world until we get the next big thing, could be dna computing for all I know

But as a customer if you ask Sun about their linux support you'll get 2 minute, we like lunux and a 2 hour Solaris/x86 Solaris/sparc dog and pony show

4) Solaris x86 is too late to the game. Its still slowest on the block and has a lot of catching up to do.
If IBM couldn't get traction with OS2 warp (which was pretty good) there is no chance in hell Sun could do better with Solaris x86.
Sun will be bidding Solaris x86 against windows and linux. In war you make alliances and don't fight on two fronts (Germany vs USSR WWII)
"That is one of the reason people buy Suns, investment protection."
Not sure investment protection holds water any longer. Some folks are doubting the *company* will be around let alone the chipset

Try writing a book, if you don't get a best seller you would probably earn even less

I looking at a Redhat box on my desk, on the front it say
"Java tm included from Sun (c)"
What does it say on your box?

Think about this way. You work in a building which has space to accomodate you and some equipment.
You are proposing a place to live which is as big to accomodate you and your home equipment.
What about ant, it works on everything unlike make
That article didn't talk about half the things in 1.5, which is JSR 176
Java saved Sun in some ways, hey even my Gran has heard of Java! TCL should have been python but they wanted to be a research project instead
That link talks about a server not a chip. the E10k is what came out of the cray purchase
Companies also like rebates as it can hold prices if there is short term overstocking or dip in demand.
When the demand/stock levels returns they can resume selling the exact same goods at the same price without a mass mark up/mark down headache

The same logic could be applied to USA supporting Afghanistan against the USSR, and Iraq against Iran.
The enemy of your enemy isn't always going to be your friend. IBM need to fight this on their own.

sounds like their may be a Gnome defense fund on the way and like other MS competitors Gnome will end up spending more time in litigation
