I bought one with the warning that goes along with a copy protected CD (i.e. requires windows, no guarantees, etc.) in Minneapolis at a Target. It hasn't gone in my PC yet, and if it does, it'll probably be under Linux.
I've had a $35 helmet very likely save me a considerable amount of pain, if not my life. The way I see it, if it hadn't been the helmet that took the blow and in the process cracked, it would've been my skull that cracked.
I don't care what reason you have for riding a bike: get a helmet.
My parents' Gateway 1GHz system seems to suffer from this. Whenever you so much as move the mouse, the high pitch whine kicks in even more. I've tried to figure out where the noise was coming from, but the narrowest area I could locate it in was from the system case, and I didn't have hardware to swap in, and I don't use it, so I don't care that much.
The phone number mentioned in "The House That Spam Built," 770-657-1021, is from an AT&T Prepaid Phone Card. Mine was purchased at Sam's Club. I have also seen 612-605-9550 come through from the same card.
Don't take my words as authority by any means, but in my experience at my summer job, locking down a Win2K/XP server should not include turning off the Remote Registry Service, as it fscks up stuff kinda bad.
Take a look at U of MN Center for Distributed Robotics. They've been working on a rover/scout plan for a few years now, and were featured on slashdot a year and a half or so ago, but I can't find the article.
Measuring a voltage on the batteries AFTER the light bulbs were powered vs. during the powering of the light bulbs makes it sounds like the car batteries have internal resistance like any battery out there. This is commonly known as putting a load on a non ideal voltage source.
Perhaps they should put up a giant metal sheild over the whole town to block out services like satellite TV and GPS too.....or just lobby the providers of those services to stop them entirely.
On a slight tangent, is the effect created by microwaving a town wacko about the same as for an AOL CD?
I've just recently started helping with this research project at the U of MN, and I must say that the little scout robots are pretty damn sweet.
Some other cool things (that you may have read on the various sites, but I thought I'd say them anyway) and notes about them:
They can jump with the help of a spring 'foot.'
They each carry a black and white camera to send video to the controlling ranger.
There's also a scout that has a camera that pops out of the tube and can pan and tilt. Check the Demos Page for videos showing this and other features.
For testing and demonstration, the scouts can be driven around with a Palm Pilot hooked up to a transmitter.
A PIC chip is used as the processor for the scout.
Need to get a scout through a window? No problem. The ranger can shoot scouts through glass (see the end of the first video from the Demos Page.
Well, actually I haven't seen Titanic for obvious reasons, but I see similarity anyway (after watching far too many Discovery Channel shows about it...blah blah). Build the best there ever was, say it's un(crash/sink)able, and risk lives(reputation? haven't they done that already?) on it. The REAL problem here is that there won't be a nekkid chick being painted in the movie about MS's downfall. There is still the Super Duper Bonus: Celine Dion won't sing about MS.

The law kind of intrigues me though...
Once made a wireless trigger/shutter release for my Nikon SLR camera with a hacked wireless doorbell.
I try not to bring it in carry-on baggage on airplanes. I think they might not like a remote control device with a weird wire leading out of it.

The plastic is fine, but one's brain can hardly take the corrosion of not reading the stories.

Leaping to the conclusion of 'gasoline powered' was certainly a leap.
Then would we find out what state Springfield is in?
Where I work, I've seen it written directly ON the monitor.
I LOVE this show! It's all about the obscure and strange humor for me! Now I just have to remember to tape all the episodes...

For this alternate approach to St. V's Day, consider giving someone a hug, asking them out, etc.
