Well, there's always that great wish of M$'s to automate updates and not even give you a choice!;)
My personal opinion is that no one is too busy to run Software Update or Windows Update or LiveUpdate when they're headed on their way out to lunch.
Sorry, son - the real world is knocking on universities' doors. We're already understaffed, we're losing people through layoffs, and we aren't going to see new postions for a while.
The employees can learn to do a little something for themselves.
You're assuming that the administrators have the ability to set a "spoof" option. In our case at my university, the administrators do not - it is a feature request we're making. Thus, the admins turned the notification off to the sender, but that still doesn't help when there is a virus without spoofing infecting things...
Just keep in mind that the admins don't always have the ability to wave a wand and make what you want come true.;)
Jacer, I run a university help desk with 32,000 students to support.
My advice: Tell the students to get off their lazy asses and patch their own godammned systems! They're college students, for God's sake! They should be able to point and click while reading from the screen or a piece of paper.
I'm an asshole when it comes to that, but I always make the student and the employee do the work themselves so they know how to do it in the future. otherwise, you're just giving them the fish to eat, but not teaching them to fish on their own.
You do also need to keep in mind that she is running for office. She is going to try to appeal to the groups she addresses. "$$$" and "M$" are things the vast majority of Slashdotters accept. You are in a rather small minority, but that doesn't matter since she's looking for support from the majority. That's the way one plays politics.
As for Quayle: he was in a school and corrected the kid, who wrote it correctly in the first place, during a photo op. That's a major difference. He made this kid look like an ass in front of his classmates, and then made himself look like an ass in front of the nation.
I love karma.
Oh, and one last thing: the concept of personal taste tends to be why people are picky. Example: I buy to John Woo movies over Tsui Hark's because I find John Woo suits my taste more. In short: I'm being picky when I do that.
Send your electric bill to Pete Wilson - he was the one who deregulated your electric industry out there. I'm not saying Davis did enough to change it, but place the blame evenly and fairly, please.
Actually, she comes across more as a Libertarian from what I see. Plus, she's got experience running her own business. It's not like she started a commune in northern California.
Well, I can think of one wealthy Republican who isn't representing the people. Nevermind the fact that the majority of us didn't vote for him...maybe that's why he doesn't feel the need to represent us.
I will say one thing: she speaks her mind and she's not playing college kid politics, like most younger candidates do (trust me, I've worked on, and eventually walked away from, those type of campaigns). On that point alone, she's more qualified than Arnold. I'd vote for her if I were living in Cali...
Anyone remember the Platoon video game on the NES? or the more recent on on Windows?
The games blew and really didn't focus on trying to create a Vietnam experience. Whenever developers are working on war games, I think it is necessary to make them responsible and faithful to the conflict be represented.
An RPG would be an interesting way to showcase a war like Vietnam, thought I would hesitate to make it an MMORPG. In terms of a shooter, perhaps online squad play would be interesting - from both US/South Vietnam and North Vietnam positions - but I think the developers would really need to try and stay away from Quake-style fragfests.
I think a responsible, faithful, immersive Vietnam shooter could be made by either Bungie or Retro Studios (Metroid Prime). Easily, the game could be part shooter and part RPG, perhaps focusing on the player's tour of duty. I think a real time effect would be interesting (though would someone play a shooter constantly for a year?) to help convey the atmosphere of that war...
I just know that it wwould not be an easy undertaking.
I'm not sure if this will go over. Let's be honest: Enter the Matrix was supposed to deliver much the same type of "revolutionary gameplay." All it did was deliver less than 13 hours of mediocre, buggy gameplay.
I'll wait until the hype has passed and actual, extensive hands-on reviews have been made.
I'm able to play Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis again on my G4! It's amazing that a game from 1992 works just fine in 2003. Now I have to see if I can find some other Scumm LucasArts games hanging around. I hope they're not on floppy...
Dunno if that's true. The Xbox still has only sold a few million more than the GC, and that's with Halo and being the only real reasons to own an Xbox. Nintendo only needs a major killer app to catch up to the Xbox. And they have the cash to do it with...I just wonder if they have the game.
Honestly, I doubt Nintendo will care. They're going to be looking for specific graphic capabilities in the GC2. They'll go with whichever company can give it to them for less.

Nope. It's that IT support needs to schedule vacation immediately after the users return...
Well, all things considered, Bobs, I figure I do a solid 15 minutes or so of real work a day...
It's the last push before the school year starts, it's at a time the businesses are well into their fiscal years and can spare employees, etc.
The GameBoy can keep Nintendo afloat for quite a while. How long? That's debatable...but it could be long enough.

CowboyNeal doesn't live in Cali.
Do you honestly think, if she becomes governor, that she would be writing the things attributed to her?

But, I agree, "Informative" is not what I would have picked for moderation... ;)
Hey! It's just a phase! He'll grow out of it in the next movie, okay? Just wait...
It's "grammar," not "grammer."
Now I have to find someone else to reply to other than you. People might start talking...especially in this thread.
I'm married, too. My preference in cases like this is to say that I'm married to my girlfriend, though. ;)
Then you can have google.msn.com, and groups.google.msn.com...
I'm shutting up now. I don't want to give MS any ideas...
It does. Office makes more money for MS than Windows.
It helps when you read the complete posting. ;)
Oops.
