You can find more porn on the internet than in an encyclopedia. No longer do 12 year old boys (and those that act like them) have to hide in some dark, secluded corner of the libarary with key encyclopedia volumes and issues of National Geographic.
OK, whoever modded me as flamebait obviously wasn't around for the Bad Old Days when it was called Windows NT. Is there anybody who used NT 4.0 or earlier and didn't have to reformat the hard drive at least once after a service pack install?
And of course after you finished reinstalling the OS, you then had to start over with SP1 again and work your way back up...
But what if your robot is a cute girl robot with its memory mysteriously erased? You have to teach it how to take a bath first, but you can't take it with you, your buddy's robot can't find any useful information on the net on how to teach your robot how to take a bath, and you'll be stuck waiting for that deus ex machina chick that runs your apartment building to show up at the end of the episode and save the day (not until after your robot embarasses you in front of her again, of course).
Fraud isn't something new to Bob Vila. He pretends to be a carpenter all the time.
Seriously, ever notice that he does nothing but talk to the people doing the work, and the few times he actually picks up a tool he even makes me seem coordinated?
A while ago some friends and I caught an old episode of This Old House when Vila was still on it, and in this particular episode he was talking to Norm Abram as he was putting on some wooden shingles. Bob decided to show show his ineptness by putting up a few himself. Comparing the two would have been sad if it hadn't been so damned funny...
"Microsoft is proposing a new system that would require people to pay to send e-mails. Postage would be in the form of allowing others to use your computer to make calculations,"
I can't wait to be compensated for all the processor cycles Microsoft's bloatware wastes on my machine! Oh, wait...
Except that I've collected 8. As with the first game, any e-tanks after 6 don't count. But if you don't get them, then they are obviously items in the game you didn't get.
"Each weapon picked up ONLY ONCE as any more would break 100%"
Depends on how you count. There's a school of thought that not getting each beam weapon twice gives you less than 100%, since they are items you did not pick up.
And again back to the first game, should you have to get the Ice Beam in both locations for your completion rate to be considered 100%?
"the Metroid II (NES) 100% is now set at 1hr 12mins,"
Aside from "Medroid II is a GB game," how do you know you have 100%? Super Metroid was the first game to bother keeping track of your completion rate and I have yet to find complete maps of the game anywhere (even the ones published in Nintendo Power left stuff out). You can't even go by the number of e-tanks you have since there are more in the game than you can use.
Also, while on the subject, am I the only person who has trouble believing people who claim to get a 100% completion rate in Super Metroid in less than 1:30?
"plans for the descent probe going into the Titan moon's hydrocarbon-rich atmosphere and the expected orbital entry around Saturn less than 4 months from now."
All Iraq-related kidding aside, I find this interesting. Saturn is too far out for modern solar energy solutions to be viable, we still haven't figured out the whole fusion thing and hydrogen doesn't like to be cracked out of water. On the other hand, hydrocarbons want to be broken down and we know all about harnessing the energy of that reaction and we'd have uses for the byproducts (soot may not be desirable here on earth but carbon is a pretty good radiation shield). We can do something with this once we get there.
Article 27 of the Constitution declares that the wealth contained in the soil, the subsoil, the waters and seas of Mexico belongs to the Nation. The right to land ownership and to exploit the subsoil may therefore only be granted by the Nation. Land may also be expropriated whenever deemed necessary. This article made it possible to control the activities of mining and oil companies, and to distribute the land of the large estates among the peasants.
It was mostly aimed at (fledgling) US oil companies at the time but it also applied to mines, water rights, etc. It didn't fly very well in Washington at the time.
"I think America dislikes Cuba a lot more than China because there was a lot of American investment in Cuba when Batista was dictator and Castro nationalized, i.e. stole, that capital."
I think it has more to do with Cuban Americans being a lot more vocal about what they think of the government in their old country and acting as a voting bloc than Chinese Americans are. There are the occasional pro-Falun Gong protest here and there, but you don't see Chinese protesting in San Francisco in the same way you see Cubans protesting in Miami.
And there's also a bit of history between the US and Cuba that goes back before Fidel Castro. For those few of us that realize that history didn't start when Hitler came to power there may be a bit of guilt. For a while there I saw way too many similarities between what the US is doing in Iraq and what the US did in Cuba during and after the Spanish-American War (liberating them from an oppressive regime, telling them to play nice and then getting the heck out as soon as possible).
If you want to talk about a loss of US investments, the US lost a lot more money when Mexico altered their constitution to forbid any foreigners from owning anything below Mexican soil. But you still don't see the kind of bad blood between the US and Mexico as you see between the US and Cuba.
It's called a "joke," or was the link too subtle?
Greg Dean of Real Life Comics has had a Master Sword replica for years!

So... do you vote? Including the local government elections?
"But when the one of the "let's cut taxes!" brand of conservative suddenly finds not enough cops to track down the guy who burgled his house"
Typically, conservatives are more likely to shoot the guy who tried burgling his house.

So the service pack will corrupt the Windows install? It's nice to see Microsoft hasn't changed a bit...

No, Ford only bought Volvo's car line. Volvo still builds semis, marine engines and the like on their own.
It's a Ford! Volvo doesn't make cars any more! I mean, calling it a Volvo is like calling those things Daimler-Chrysler churns out "Jeeps."
*sniffle* I miss my Swedish bricks...
I drive diesel, so you're both wrong. An epoxy upon both your houses.

Sherman set up us The Bomb!

Yes, but would he be saying it to SCO or the Linux user?
Probably both...

When will Cassini photograph the monolith on Iapetus.
From a Mexican government website talking about their (current) constitution of 1917:It was mostly aimed at (fledgling) US oil companies at the time but it also applied to mines, water rights, etc. It didn't fly very well in Washington at the time.

I thought those were called "gunnery sergeants"
"No, fuck you... I don't need people to invent enemies so they have someone to protect me from."
So... do you vote? If so, how do you avoid voting for such people?
