Powershell is also a good example of how they have recognized the problem and are starting to fix it. PS comes install on Win8 and on Win8.1 it is the default on the command menu (Winkey+X -> A). MS is far from sinking as GP would have us believe and I think with these changes it will perform even better.

How DRM Won
·
· Score: 4, Insightful
DRM is only an issue if it gets in the way of letting the user do what they want. Make a service that is convenient and easy to use, that works the way the user wants it to work and they won't care about DRM. e.g. Steam, Netflix, Hulu etc. Music streaming services have the nice feature of me not needing to worry about storing, tagging, organizing my music collection. If the service is good and people are willing to pay for it that's all that matters.
Before responding about how much you personally care about and dislike DRM please note that you are not a part of the "they" I was talking about.
Not everyone who likes the Surface RT is paid by MS. Mine is the best travel computer I've ever owned. Does everything I need it to do while on the road but is super light and has all day battery life. Sure, astroturfing happens (and not just by MS) but it's also true that people have been too quick to hate. The big complaint against RT at launch with the lack of apps and that is changing very fast.
No, I'm able to admit when I'm wrong, I just don't waste time with ACs.
You are right. I let my hatred of all things Apple get the better of me and I didn't check my source. I misremembered the slide as just saying 256 bit.
Still seems like a weaselish thing to put in a slide. As though it's something they've done or makes their new system special; it's just a feature of the Intel chip they picked. They clearly knew that it's just a big sounding number and most people don't really know what it means.
I get that but that's not what people mean when they talk about bit support in a cpu. Apple is either ignorant of this or being deliberately misleading.
Notch has more control and doesn't have to answer to share holders. It's overly cynical to say he did the right thing so he would look good to his fans.
Also, if they're spending time providing a useful service to people why shouldn't they be able to profit? It's a performance. The performer should get the money not the people who make the thing that is being preformed on.
MS isn't in the same monopoly position that it was in the 90s. DOJ shouldn't care.

but would it be cannibalism to eat them?
8.1 is a free upgrade to those running 8.0. This is a non-issue.
Can't we just roll out all the old excuses we heard from the apple fans about how it may cost more but you get what you pay for?

Don't look for the PC industry to save you. MS is just following Steam's lead.
That's CRAZY talk. Sony has a squeaky clean track record when it comes to DRM. There's NO WAY they would ever do such a thing. /s
I think worrying about stuff like built in webcams is a symptom of some deeper issue and you'd be better served by seeking help for that.
To fix the mic problem just buy some lead foil and make a nice hat.
MSFT is up almost 30% YTD.
Are birds free from the chains of the skyway?
XP will still work. If people haven't upgraded yet I don't see why they wouldn't just keep using it if it does what they need.

hate it when I start to reply before I notice that it's just an AC. If you want to talk to me son you're going to have to get an account.

They also claim it's a 256bit CPU in their slide. Not exactly confidence inspiring.
I'm curious if he also publically discloses any Android/Chrome related vulnerabilities he finds without first talking to his employer.
If it's going back to one camera it would be better to keep the one that gets used the most.
So they're famous for good marketing. That sounds about right.
Actually it's running three OSs at the same time.
They're just acknowledging the reality that most people do a lot more than just play games.

Everyone? I don't see it listed as an option in the Google translator. Who else does?
