Check out the Internet Movie Database if you haven't already. You can find opinions/ratings from a wide variety of individuals, and submit your own opinions on movies. A good general source on movie information. It would be cool if they started linking to alternate audio tracks as well..

No way man, a week later I got a job offer from a much cooler place. A small company, not corporate at all. Our software is multiplatform. The people here are cool and I've never been happier. Plus I didn't have to move to a shitty town like Sarasota that has nothing but retired old people. BTW I don't consider myself a "linus hippie," I'll develop for Windows when appropriate.. But I don't consider Windows a good OS for applications that are meant to run continuously without crashing.

I almost took up a job with L-3 Communications who produces the "black boxes" that reside in airplanes and ocean vessels that record data to be recovered when a craft goes down. My reason for not taking the job? All their software runs under Windows! (though the embedded stuff doesn't, but everything else does) I just imagined all these ships out in the ocean running Windows and the thought really scared me.

By the time someone sequentially brute forces even an 8 character password (assuming its relatively complicated), I doubt the account will still be in existance. Its more the crackers who don't do password guessing, but use other methods to compromise systems, that are something to worry about.

However, new.net didn't work after the restore causing my TCP/IP stack to be unopperational too. It was looking for newdot~2.dll, when only newdot~1.dll existed. Apparently it doesn't take into account long filenames and uses the 8.3 character filename. I didn't know what it was at the time and just made a newdot~2.dll to get on the net. Of course I was even more unhappy to find out what it really was.

I just came back from India. It is a total dump. But they are hardcore into computers. And 62% of the country is in poverty. Hence I think they care more about free as in beer. But some of the people understand "free as in speech".. I think its the same as the west. I can't see India caring more about ethical and social issues more than western countries. Look at how much they've let their country go to waste. They don't regulate polution at all, they don't provide education to the poor. Maybe its because they have so many ethical and social problems that makes them more understanding.

I agree.. I see everyone's desire to have a child as just a selfish desire they've been programmed with. I just recently visited India, whose population is through the roof. They are so stuck in their ways, people are basically expected to follow the same path: get married and have kids. If you don't follow this path they consider there to be something wrong with you. Why would people in a country with such a tremendous population problem continue with such nonsensical tradition? The reason I'm given is so that they have someone to take care of them in their old age. I guess their society is just that way. But then they ask me "when you are getting married?" and I say "not for a long time" (and think to myself "never" and laugh). Maybe I'll get married, but I don't have any intention of adding another child to this world.

You'd be surprised at how intelligence is more a product of what a person experiences after they are born (and while in the womb). For example the diet of a baby can affect its intelligence later in life. For example breast feeding a baby will result in more intelligence over not using breast milk. And countless other factors, but diet is the big one, it makes a person.

Both 2k and XP beat 95/98/98se/ME in reliability, speed, features, etc. XP may look like a kiddie OS after installing, but if you're a serious power user, you will get it running exactly like you want.

A lot of the newer audio cards have SPDIF outputs and other good stuff that will bring the audio up to par for home theatre. So no worries about RCA jacks.
