    I'd wonder why songs are encoded from 16 bits / 44100 hz, while our ear can hear a difference with 96 khz/32bits and consumer sound cards can often do 48khz ? (if you can do better than rip from a CD, that is)

    I mean, would 160 kbps sound better from 44100 or 48 / 96 khz ?

    What SHOULD be made illegal is using spam to sell your products, i.e. be a spammer's client.
    Problem is, seeing an email with your name on it isn't a proof that you are a client. You'd have to check the spammers' customers databases.

    No clients -> no profit !!! -> no business -> no spammers

    albums that were composed as albums and not as a buch of songs. Which in the spirits of some artists, is a reality, and not plain bundling of songs.

    Try to listen to Pynk floyd's 'The Wall' in random mode for example.

    Sorry. however, what's interesting, here is of course not that somebody made a perl cgi (big news) but rather that the protocol was reverse engineered : now, you could have anyone making interesting uses of that. Of course, re-making itunes will not be a very popular project I think, because well itunes exists and a free version connecting to an apple service is quite moot. However, a common interface to (mod my cousin talking about gaim up).

    true ! As a tehnology standpoint, I find real player impressive. They can play almot whatever, use standard streaming technologies (gasp ! even supporting them).

    But the marketing department ... oh dear, they should be forced to use what they provide. Take a good product, add bloat , add nagging functions. take a good, unknown product, make it a bad, loathed product. what a shame.

    Try delivering a software project named 'Photoshop bis' or 'Windows XP 2', claim you are not affiliated to Adobe or MS.
    This is a trademark issue and claiming is not the same as being right.

    No, many BIOS can be updated directly from Win, and you always can boot on a CD (el torito) or USB memory stick on new motherboards.

    The thing is to have a clean , mono application state when you flash.

    However, if the designers of this trusted system are not retarded, well they WILL disable flashing using untrusted (unsigned) updates / updaters.

    Note that it can be non realtime, too. If you record your neighbours when they make some noise, then, say, one hour later, play it back VERY loud, and you repeat each time they make noise, you'll see some noise cancellation effect quite soon.

    And that what prevents duplication now could be for example the fact that standard DVD are released on 9Gb media instead of 4.7 Gb DVD-+R[W|AM]?
