i don't care so much about the brand name. i just want a kickass pc that doesn't cost 2 weeks salary. it has to be reliable, fast, and made from metal not crappy ass rounded plastic.
When done RIGHT it releases pollutants. Pollutants are used in the process.
When done WRONG those pollutants contaminate the groundwater, and people lose their homes or their health.
this is only a good idea if you're a greedy jerk.
This still doesn't disprove the fact that Samsung are thieves who don't care whose features they steal from. We should not look to corporations as being good or evil -- they're all evil.
I look forward to our Post Terran Minerals Corporation overlords. I can't wait to play Descent in real life. The machines do not need us, especially in space.
Since I don't need to memorize information because I can just look it up via Google Search, I'm learning less and less and becoming more reliant on the internet. Which means my brain is shrinking, not expanding.
I've attempted to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my Mac Pro, both straight onto a hard drive and through a VirtualBox virtual machine, and it fails both installations. So I'd be willing to pay for it when it freaking works.
Now that Adobe's pushing customers to run the cloud-linked Adobe Creative Suite, this means hackers have a better likelihood of hacking Adobe's customers. Great job.
Wikipedia is better now than it ever was. They actually have some articles which are well-researched and have a large number of sources cited.
Content creators (writers, designers, researchers) should be paid for their efforts. The free toy in your happy meal is usually crap; school textbooks are too important to be crap.
If schools want free textbooks, cant they just scan it and share it? Or learn to use BitTorrent like everybody else?
Sadly, I agree with you. I've been watching the Middle East for 30+ years with disgust and pity. Not all the people of Iran are murderous zealots. But the good people who live there refuse to stand up and stop their idiot leaders. It's like we're watching Germany in 1937. We know that it is coming, and we know we'll have to stop it, but for now we're just watching from a distance as they put themselves in a position where Israel/the US will have no other choice but to destroy them. And if we don't put the hurt on, they'll rebuild and come at us again.
especially when they believe their deity tells them that women are not equal to men, and shouldn't vote, or drive, learn to read, or show their face in public. i'm sick of bleeding hearts defending these muslim assholes. i haven't heard many stories of people from other faiths being so mean to their own mothers, sisters, daughters, wives.
Hillary Clinton's failure to use the bully pulpit to point out that Iran is hacking our banks, jeopardizing the safety of US Citizen's money, worries me. No, I don't want a war with Iran, but hacking US banks requires a loud vocal response to provide cover for whatever bombing Obama/Romney is planning to do.
my ears are ringing from tinitus now, even though I haven't heard anything loud for days. you must protect yourself -- I've been wearing earplugs where necessary since realizing i was losing my top end in my 20's because of extremely loud guitarists and drummers (bassists usually aren't such dicks). being a keyboardist, I have had to compete with the guitars, and I can't stand playing so loud it hurts. just for once i want to be in a band where we play soft. if the audience can't hear, then they should STFU.
Open source is free only if your time has no value. How many cases of packages being abandoned have we seen in the open source community, or the software updates forking in a direction that you don't want it to go? At least with Microsoft crap you've got a plethora of trained and experienced staff or contractors on which to draw upon who can work with your software systems. Choosing open source is a crapshoot at best, the odds only in your favor if you hire a few capable programmers. Last software development company I worked with chose open source to save money, and ended up with less-than-capable programmers supporting the product because they were cheap with their employees too.
My 2006 Toyota Corolla was hit on the highway this May by a semi, with me inside. Airbags didn't deploy, but I walked away from the incident without a scratch (well, some bruises). This would never happen in the Tata - you'd be a goner for sure.
who's going to do all the policing? Kamala D. Harris?

I can't speak for Pennsylvania, but here at Notre Dame we sure as hell drink from our own reservoir.

Sweet!

they're not jealous of our freedom? they obviously choose to be suppressed by religious benefactors, by not rising up against the ayatollah.

how many of Sophos customers are not on the Windows platform? that makes me laugh.

I doubt most web apps, including Google's, have been thoroughly tested with IE10 which comes with Windows 8.
Is IE8 ancient?
I would guess that reading the results of scientific tests would help one to fall asleep.
Since the world is running out of Helium supplies, it would be nice if scientists could develop ways of generating helium from micromotors.

$20 for the stethoscope mic. $600 for the smartphone. How is that cheap? it's only cheap when you add more apps & plugin devices to the phone.
