Things like companies embracing one technology instead of making something that would be cross compatible.. Other companies take standards and twist them to their own purposes making everyone else incompatible.

    Yes It's Microsoft.

How about Napster, is it any coincidence that it's IE and WMP only. This is the begining of the new software monopoly. Microsoft will now instead of bundling all the software on a pc where everyone uses it becuase it's there is now getting companies to make MS only products. So one day you may be faced with being forced to use IE for bank transactions becuase your bank embraced the MS standard for trusted computing not any standard for trusted computing..

That's only the tip of the iceberg of what Microsoft can do to leverage it's desktop share to control those who even think of trying an alternative.

Companies need to think of the social impact of their inventions lately. Putting 3 million people out of work takes 3 million people out of the circle of capitalism. I think those who are benefitting from capitalism the most are forgetting that they need small jobs to empower those who work them to make sales. Otherwise it's like trying to feed a cow in a desert.

Hopefully people get the idea. Money spent overseas does not come back the way companies say it will. Even if we bring up their standard of living and such they socially buy locally.

@Home died becuase they were not taking in enough money per user. The cable companies got the biggest cut and @home got around 10 dollars per customer. They asked for a increase to 13 dollars and were denied by all the cable companies and thus they declared bankruptcy.

Speed has nothing to do with the price. 98% of the users will always download a average amount of data per month with a few fluctuations here and there. Bandwidth is becoming cheaper due to the push for more data based services and you'll probably see a greater increase in speeds and push for higher technology that will enable 10M and 100Mbit speeds to end users eventually. This will probably come in the form of fiber to the curb which will have the capacity to perform at these rates.

Most bulk bandwidth plans are on a per gigabyte 95%tile rating so if you had customers at 512k or 3Mbit if they held the same pattern the averages would be the same becuase you're just moving the data faster and not more of it.

But I know many people who have bootlegs of movies and considering the 8 dollar plus snacks and quality/crowding issues at theatres nowdays it's a wonder nobody makes returns to the movie no matter how good it is..

I've avoided opening nights on fridays and just have gone on a sunday or monday when it's not crowded and I can sit comfortably with the wife.

Also they might want to look at these movies that they release that the preview was better than the movie. Such as the latest woody allen movie with christina ricci and the kid from american pie.. it was worthless.. I would of paid to see a slightly longer preview and been done with it instead of wasting 2 hours of my life watching what I thought was a boring movie.

I'm sure many would point out that we've had no problems with the Panama Canal yet. But what happens if China saw it in it's interest to block passage of US ships. What would the US do? Go back and take it over again?

Now that can be easy enough. But what do you do when the company controlling the network your work across just changes the passwords across the whole network and then shuts down nearly the entire US network grid? What army of engineers will go out and replace each and every network device that's blocked?

It's obvious that nobody asked Bush the hard questions or maybe since he does not even use a cell phone, knows how vital these systems really are.
