On the other hand, you can't forget that the stories on digg's front page can't be that god-awful for someone to want them to show up on the first page you see.
Riiiiight. Like the numerous daily "10 Applications You NEED on your Computer" (that always seem to grab from the same pool of 40 apps and then proceed to shuffle them around with or without "insightful" commentary from some 15 year old's attention whoring blog) or "[Insert semi-mainstream publication here] mentions DIGG on their [website/blog/podcast]" articles?
-Ye olde memory leak is still as leaky as ever (Session Saver extension + closing/reloading FF does the trick -- the "browser.cache.memory.capacity" trick does NOT)
As far as I know, your sig is incorrect. Apostrophes are used for contractions AND possessives. It's PLURALIZING where you do not use them. Bob the angry flower can help.
I should throw in the caveat that I don't use the sidebar functionality on a daily basis. I played with it for a bit, but I use Konfabulator and Samurize for my widgety goodness, so the GD2 sidebar is overkill for me. I *did* play with the sidebar for awhile and it seemed to work OK.
That being said, the core search functionality, which i use via the Google Desktop Search Toolbar (not to be confused with the Google Deskbar) works fine under a LUA.
I think you misunderstood GP post. He wasn't "telling you what you must do." He was saying the bible does not have to be taken literally.
Yes, you've demonstrated that quite well by automatically assuming what I'm like.
Again, I think you are reading something into GP's comment. All he is saying is that there seem to be extremists on both sides of the issue, and they are very close-minded about the opposing viewpoint. A pretty fair assesment, I might add.
There are some truths that are eternal.
I agree that "some truths are eternal", but I don't agree with how you have used that statement to respond to GP's original comment of "Why must religion remain in the same state it was 2000 years ago, and not advance with the rest of society?". It makes you sound like a religious zealot, and quite frankly, makes everything you say suspect, no matter how well you articulate yourself.
Depends on how you define science, doesn't it? If by science you mean "the scientific method", then this doesn't mean rejecting religion. If by science you mean "the philosophy of naturalism", then the two will always be mortal enemies.
I think it's clear the GP was referring to the former.
Either you are a Mac user, or a glutton for punishment. I'm guessing Mac user.
I don't care if I can't make a "backup" copy to give to my friends.
So I suppose you don't care about being able to make a backup for yourself? I guess you like re-buying your content every time your media fails?
I don't really even care about the quality all that much because the quality of 50's and 60's tv shows was generally pretty bad over the air anyway.
You don't really even care about the quality. Wow, that's great, I'm happy for you that *YOU* don't care about quality but some of us would like to be able to play the content we pay good money for on multiple resolutions. If everyone had your attitude we would be buying new versions of our favorite content every time a new device came out.
Right, Divx and Xvid are MPEG4 implementions. But the other poster's comment suggested that if the iPod supports MPEG4, and Divx and Xvid are just "MPEG4 in an AVI wrapper", then perhaps the iPod supports Divx and Xvid (which, as you have stated, is incorrect).

And if "Mary" is invisible, waiting for you to sign on?
It depends on the network. Most of my U.S. contacts use Y!M, which delivers "offline messages". So it's a simple matter of sending am IM to Mary that reads "Hey Mary, I'm online but invisible, msg me when you come on"
-OR-
I can simply set myself as invisible and then set myself as visible to Mary (Y!M allows visibilty on a per contact basis)
I am protracted.
Heheh. Eddie Deezen's mom was my high school french teacher. Great movie BTW.
IIRC:
Fairplay: Apple's DRM scheme
PlayFair: OSX tool to remove said DRM

Call me when DIGG hits puberty.
OT, but does anyone know of a way to remove the AVG systray?
I believe removing the AVG7_CC entry from the HKLM/Run registry key should do the trick.
...oh and the config.trim_on_minimize set-to-true trick does not seem to help either.
You forgot the most important one...
-Ye olde memory leak is still as leaky as ever (Session Saver extension + closing/reloading FF does the trick -- the "browser.cache.memory.capacity" trick does NOT)
On a semi-related note, the article you mention included a post from Jason Kottke.
Nevermind my stupid comment about your sig. I forgot the exception and I have had my grammar nazi card revoked.
Also, if you would, could you use the plural of "it" in a sentence?
Indeed. My bad.

I'm using the original beta of GD2 (Google Desktop 20050818-en) under a limited user account and it works well.
Your "mean" response was actually pretty "nice". Trying using more words with harsh "k" sounds at the end and references to his mother's hygiene.
....zzzwwoooooosh....
....is the sound of hundreds of slashdotters accessing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tedy_Bruschi. Not that I'm making fun of /.'ers (I had to look it up, too)

You forgot "The big red book that doesn't fit on a shelf" :)
But does it do the tag thing? :)
Nope, but this does.

But aren't divx and xvid just MPEG-4 video in an AVI wrapper
DiVX and xvid are the DiVX codec and the xvid codec (in an AVI wrapper)
Can it play divx's/xvid's?

Why pay $1.99 per episode when you can just take the video you saved using Mythtv and download it to your ipod.
The same reason why people buy cola in cans as opposed to installing a dedicated soda fountain in their kitchen.
I knew you would see it my way.
