If I needed to use my gun in a sudden self-defense situation, I'd much rather have a "real" gun and not this gimmick. I would suggest anyone who is ashamed of their gun to simply learn to conceal it properly. Myself, I open carry my gun everywhere I go. I'm not ashamed of it. If people want to stare, let them stare.
I get that call EVERY DAY on my cell phone, trying to offer me lower rates on my credit card(s). I've been getting the call every day for the last 2 years. I've tried just about everything. For an entire month I pressed 1 to talk to a representative and pretended to be interested to work my way up the chain, so that I could waste their time. I hoped that would get them to take me off the list. Didn't work. I have tried ignoring the calls, that doesn't work either. I have threatened them with everything from legal action to bodily harm. That doesn't work either. If I knew where their offices were, I'd go burn the place down.
I only use it for 2 reasons. One is because the ads have become so intrusive and annoying. No longer is it good enough to put a banner ad on the page. But now it has to take over my entire browser window and run 100 scripts that slow my browsing experience down (especially since I use older computers) but they also can't seen to get control of the malware issue. Again, if they wouldn't allow all of the scripts then malware wouldn't even be an issue.
I get a call every single day on my cell phone from a robocall company called "Cardholder services" and sometimes they go by "cardmember services" and they refuse to stop calling me. They've been calling me every day for almost 2 years now with a pitch to lower my credit card interest rates. I have threatened them with everything from bodily harm to legal action. Nothing seems to help. They just call me back the next day and the cycle repeats. I guess they figure if they didn't get my business the first 600 times they called, maybe if they just call me 601 times, that will do the trick.
Dang.. I should be in for some BIG settlement from these guys if Time Warner had to pay up...
Even if this is true, it will not cut the cost of batteries in half. It only cuts the cost of manufacturing. The trouble is, most of the cost of batteries comes from the raw materials. So I wouldn't expect a huge drop in cost to the consumer.
The skateboard design will force the vehicle to be taller. But even if that is desired, it is still not practical for a plug-in hybrid because you still have to deal with things on the bottom of the car like exhaust channels, gas tanks, etc.
Now that I can actually own my own music downloaded legally from iTunes and play it on all of my devices, I have no reason to pirate it. But I still pirate movies and will continue until the DRM issue is resolved.
This sort of reminds me of when Motorola was putting fake antennas on their cellular phones (with the real antenna inside) because they thought people wouldn't buy the phone if it didn't have a visible antenna. But eventually, society learned that an visible antenna was not necessary and we moved on. I suspect in another 20 years most cars will be a lot more quiet as a result of hybrid and electric drivetrains. I've been driving an EV now for 3 years and now that I've grown accustomed to the silence, hearing any engine noise at all sounds so yesterday, so obsolete.
Literally, when I go into the standard control panel for Windows 7 I can't find anything useful. All of the settings I need to change require going to the classic control panel.
I guess because I'm good with math, statistics, and the law of probability. It doesn't take a genius to realize gambling is 100% certain to cause you to go broke. Even if on occasion you win a large amount, the over all trend is always to lose money.
If those are tech support jobs, then they might as well automate them. The best I can tell those workers they hire over there have essentially no skills in the products they are supporting. They basically just read what the computer screen tells them to say or ask. As a customer, I'd honestly rather be talking to a machine as it would give me the same answers but might actually be at little easier to understand.
First off, a fuel cell vehicle IS IN FACT an electric car.. just instead of a big battery it uses a fuel cell. So, the Tesla is a very valid comparison being it is the same price and still an electric car.
Right now they have virtually zero real competition. On the other side, many people are still afraid of electric cars for one reason or another. And by helping the market expand, it will help their own brand succeed too.
And I have no problem with these smart guns for anyone who wants to buy one. In fact, I could see advantages for these guns under certain circumstances if I was in situations where there was a risk my gun would be taken away from me in a struggle. However, personally I would not want one of these. The main reason being that it is another point of possible failure or breakdown that could keep my gun from firing in the event I need to use it. When people need to use a gun in self-defense they usually have less than a second to make that decision and pull the trigger. THere is no time to be fiddling with some gizmo or something that might prevent the gun from firing.
While it is true, if you keep the car long enough you'll eventually need a new battery. The battery warranty is for 8 years, or 10 years in some states. Nissan hasn't released a price for a replacement pack. Most experts believe the battery costs around $5,000 currently. But it will probably be half that price by the time you need to replace it. On the flip side, the electric car requires almost no regular maintenance like your CR-V does. And when you do replace the battery, the car should be good to go for another 10 years because the rest of the car should last much longer than a gasoline car.
As somebody who studies language - I agree. You can't make analogies in the first place without a functional language. And if you have a functional language, why make up analogies? And seriously, how can the communicate complex ideas? Can you imagine them trying to write a book explaining microprocessor design?
I hear people constantly get those two words mixed up. Obviously they sound similar, but have quite different meanings. I'd be surprised if that many people really believed astrology was a science.
I too do not understand why the PC Jr did not sell better. It had graphics and sound that were way better than everything else in the PC-compatible industry at the time and the Tandy 1000 carried on the video and sound systems for several years and were still better. I've recently been playing with DOSBox and set the system type to "tandy" and have played some of my old favorite games and I've been pleasantly surprised how good they look and sound compared to a similar system of the time with CGA or even EGA.

Normally this kind of thing pisses me off. BUT.. Since CBS is now suing Axanar for copyright infringement of a FAN FILM, they deserve this.

I read the whole summary 3 times and still didn't fully understand it.

I see that mistake so often. It should be "star system" because only our star system is called "Solar system" because our star is called Sol.

So for $70,000 why would I want to buy this car versus a Tesla Model S? Or two Chevy Volts?
Well, I hope you do have fun at the gas station. I drive electric, so I never go there, period.

You know just 1% of our military budget diverted to NASA could do amazing things.. imagine if we diverted half of that budget!
