can only be removed using a lengthy process beyond the skills of a typical android user.
The "lengthy process" consists of:
Go to System Settings >> Location and Security >> Select Device Administrators Remove "Android System Service" Go to System Settings >> Applications >> Manage Applications >> Android System Service Choose "Uninstall"
You're exactly right. Using open source software might be cheaper and may have allowed them to get up and running faster, rather than having to build their own from scratch. However the claim that "'it allows us to customize and tweak code to meet our fast-paced engineering needs as our service and community grows." is completely meaningless. If Twitter was running on closed source software that they developed entirely on their own, they would still be able to tweak and update it as much as they want, any time they want.
But on Feb. 29, Dragon received an odd memo from Goldman. It wasn’t addressed to anyone in particular at Dragon, and it wasn’t signed by anyone at Goldman. The Goldman employees testified later that they had no idea who had sent it. But the memo referred to many of the same due diligence issues that Ms. Chamberlain raised. The memo asserted, however, that Dragon’s accounting firm, Arthur Andersen, should do the work, not Goldman.
Well then what the fuck was Goldman getting paid $5 Million for?
And one of the defenses now being used by Goldman is that letter. Goldman is now claiming they are not liable for anything because they told Dragon it was their accountants responsibility to perform due diligence.
Let me say first that I find Scientology repulsive and a particularly greasy form of pyramid scheme. However, compared to the Judeo-Christian-Islamic trinity, they are responsible for much less evil and far fewer deaths. Between those three religions you have tens of millions slaughtered in pointless wars over minor differences in doctrine. You have sexism that runs deep through the dogma of all three. You have churches who have officially sanctioned everything from genocide to sexually abusing children to slavery. This stuff isn't even in the distant past. I can find examples in the last century where each of these religions has committed terrible atrocities.
Scientology is easy to hate because it is so ridiculous, so absurd, and generally unpopular. It's an easier target than Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. But if you really take a step back and look at the doctrine of those three faiths, they are equally as ridiculous.
All those other religions had a 2000 year head start on Scientology, so the Scientologists are way behind in the killing and other stuff, but that is irrelevant. Scientology is not a religion by any reasonable definition of the term. They only use the word church in their name for tax-avoidance purposes and so that they can claim "religious persecution" if anyone tries to challenge their absurd nonsense.
Scientology is a lot of things -- scam, dangerous cult, organized crime -- but one thing it is not is a religion.
That guy is trolling for attention with false and idiot statements:
- "MS said their KB is better than a true KB". FALSE. they said i's better than a *touch* KB.
- My bike has a kick stand, and it's not a key feature. DUMB. a tablet's kickstand is for when you actually use the tablet, as opposed to a bike's kickstand.
Overall, a second rate blogger having an hissy fit about being shown a pre-prod unit (was it his first time ?), and trying to blow things out of proportion with idiot arguments. Oh, and he censored my negative comment on his blog, too.
The guy might be a total asshole for all I know, but, if he is telling the truth (i.e., no one at the event ever actually got to use the device or even touch it for more than a couple of seconds) then he has a legitimate point, which is very simply, that you can't honestly claim to have done a "hands-on review" of something if you've never actually used it for more than a few seconds.
She says that she can give a review that's "hands on" even with just a short time using the product, as long as she's clear it's just an impression and isn't an in-depth review.
Holding a device, that isn't turned on, for a few seconds, is not a "hands-on review", except in the world of unethical scumbag journalists.
The real "problem" is that musicians and record companies con no longer make as much money selling crap as they used to.
Prior to iTunes and other legal methods of downloading music, there was only one way buy music -- you went to a store and bought an album. Whether it was a CD, vinyl LP. 8 track tape or whatever, and it didn't matter if half the songs where crap. That was your only choice. Period. And that was a great deal for both musicians and record companies because it meant that they sold a lot of albums and made a lot of money. And lets be honest. Even the all time greatest "classic" albums have some filler on them. Songs that absolutely nobody cares about. In the past, it didn't matter, you bought the whole album and the musicians'/record companies got the maximum amount of money
But now, that's no longer the case. Only like 3 songs from an album? You just buy those 3 songs. And the math is pretty simple:
-- A million people buy those 3 songs from the album -- the artist royalties from 3 million songs sold on iTunes is a lot less than 3 million albums sold.
-- A million albums sold with 12 songs per album = $1,080,000 in publishing royalties for the songwriter (9 cents per song). But if a million people just buy those 3 songs publishing royalties = $270,000.
In the end, it's really no different than any other technological change. You can't make a living delivering packages by stage-coach anymore either.
It's pretty clear that the large CAs are more interesting in leveraging their status to make money than actually proving a secure service..
At some point you must reconcile that with a commercial company, the bottom line is more important than everything else.

Which is why the whole Certificate process is fundamentally broken.
1 - There are too many CA's One one hand, you don't want a few companies to have a monopoly, but too many CA's greatly increases the chances that someone will be compromised. Several of the recent fraudulent certificates came from smaller "resellers".
2. An automatic conflict of interest. The number one priority of any business is to make money. And that's understandable -- if you don't make money you go out of business. In order for certificates to work as intended, CA's would have to turn away customers (and money). But because fraudulent certificates are not as noticeable or as well publicized as things like defective household appliances, there is little incentive for CA's to reject untrustworthy customers.
The person was able to impersonate myself with our web hosting company, and provide correct answers to their verification questions. And thereby gain access to our client account with the host, and ultimately change the email and then request a mailing of the access details.
This means that there was no actual hacking of our server. They were ultimately given the access details.
Yes, they didn't break in, YOU FUCKING LET THEM IN, because that really makes a difference.
... but I get busy doing something most Sunday nights or forget to watch it, so I usually start the download Monday morning and watch it after work.
It's not pirating if you're time shifting.
I have no interest in Game of Thrones, but I download a lot of other TV shows from a variety of sources.
-- Don't have to remember to program the DVR -- Commercials are already cut out --.mkv format with gives good quality with a fairly small file size -- I can save them all to my hard drive and have hundreds of episodes available any time I want -- Easily transfer to a thumb drive or other computer for maximum portability
Once again the entertainment industry is failing to provide people what they want and so people are taking matters into their own hands.
Local broadcasts are free. Well sort of. You can still get over the air local channels most places but maybe 80-90%+ of people receive their local channels through cable tv, satellite, fios, whatever.
These companies can't just tap into the local airwaves and rebroadcast these channels. They have to pay for it and ever year or so there's a major issue with the contract of some channel holding out for more money.
Which just illustrates the extreme level of greed in the TV industry. The old days of free TV supported entirely by commercials is gone. All of the cable and satellite companies must pay many millions of dollars a year to every network if they want to carry their programming. Add it all up and it easily runs into many billions of dollars. The fact is, you could completely eliminate commercials from TV and the networks would still make an enormous amount of money from broadcast fees, syndication, dvd sales, etc.
Of course, in Hollywood, no amount of money is ever enough.
Doesn't Dish already pay licensing fees to the networks as well?
Exactly.
Dish pays millions of dollars a year to the networks for the "right" to carry their programs. If Dish completely cuts out commercials on every channel they carry, the networks still get money.
Long story short, she kinda had it coming for failing to do due diligence.
Nobody likes lying, and it's pretty hard to defend someone who gets caught telling a lie, but, do you really believe that Yahoo hired Scott Thompson because they thought he had a CS degree, from 1979, from some tiny college that nobody has heard of? And the only reason that any of this has come up in the first place is because of a guy who wants a seat on the Yahoo board of directors, but can't get it, so he decides to dig up whatever dirt he can for the sole purpose of embarrassing Yahoo.
Of course, if the Yahoo board had done their homework, they would have caught this and saved themself some embarrassment.
Several years ago somebody put out a joke press release that went something like:
Dear Employees,
We have calculated that reducing the workforce by 10% would result in a savings of $100 Million. Taking those calculations further, we have determined that eliminating 100% of the workforce would result in a savings of $1 Billion. Because we are committed to driving maximum shareholder value, we are announcing that we will be eliminating 110% of the workforce. The additional cuts will be achieved by laying off employees of other companies.
When questioned if laying off 100% of the workforce would cause the company to no longer exist, the CEO replied "Nobody has ever tried this before, so let's not be too hasty to jump to conclusions".
Somehow we have developed this absurd idea that you simply have to place a computer in front of a child and ~POOF~ they are magically educated, with no thought or work required by a teacher or anyone else. As a result, many billions of dollars have been spent putting computers in every classroom, and it has been a gigantic waste of money, because computers are completely unneccesary in education. Maybe in the last couple of years of highschool it makes sense, but in the early years, a computer serves no useful purpose in school and actually hinders important learning.
Computers are fantastic, powerful and useful tools. but so is a bulldozer, and we don't insist that young children must learn to operate a bulldozer or else they will not get a proper education.
It's all fun and games until your cat dies of exhaustion.

director of platform partnerships
platform marketing director
mobile platform marketing manager
design manager
Sorry, but those mostly sound like made up bullshit job titles.
From a purely self-interest perspective, what these managers are doing by leaving now is actually the smartest decision they could make.
The stock price has probably got further down to go. Depending on their stock options they'd actually stand to lose money by staying don't they?
That makes no sense. How do they lose money by staying at Facebook? Why can't they cash in their stock options and still continue to work at Facebook?
The fact that people are leaving usually indicates that it's a shitty place to work and/or they see no future for themselves or for the company.
Advertising on the Internet is based on click-fraud. Where have you been for the last 10 years?
