No, but you can certainly suffer from drunken fat finger syndrome and misspell every third word. Don't forget to forget all forms of logical sentence structure. That *really* gets the point across.:0
Man, I'm 0.64642652757127586 seconds late paying my electric bill, and SMUD starts sending me hate mail.
So you're telling me that if I become Jewish, I won't have to worry about my utility bills?
COOL! Where can I sign up? Besides, I love latkes...:D
On a more serious note, I know what you mean. I spent a few days up in the desert (No, NOT Burning Man, geez..) and it was great. Didn't worry about email or anything. I was too busy with the GPS and other stuff, like the massive amounts of firearms we were carrying.:)
This is the LAST thing we need.. spammers being allowed to bully ISPs/upstream providers around and using the court system to do so. What kind of a judge would allow something like that? I haven't read the.pdf files yet (I'm pissed at Adobe still, and I axed Acrobat Reader) but I can't imagine a sane person actually letting something like that happen.:(
This is a job for the A-Team..or 12 angry machete swinging Samoans.

It's pretty cool to see how far Linux has actually come since the 'ol days. Maybe one day we'll finally settle this whole Gnome vs KDE stuff once and for all....;)
Speaking of parties..don't forget this party to raise funds for Dimitry's legal defense.
I also started out with Caldera OpenLinux, then eDesktop 2.4, but after a while it seemed to be lagging behind everything else. It was great to work with, and several of my machines still run it, but SuSE 7.x has found a new place in my heart.
Yes, that sounds cheesy, but I have been *very* happy with the new SuSE offerings. Fry's had the Personal and Professional packages of SuSE 7.2 on sale, and I picked up Pro for me and Personal for a friend of mine.:)
Eventually this crap will wind up on disney.com o something, thanks to some shareware app... and next thing you know, heeeeeeeeeeere comes goatse.cx links!
Not a good thing.:P
You're right.. what gets me are those that are *not* on an Exchange server, but they want to use Outlook "because it's familiar to them" rather than at least using Outlook Express or..gah, anything else but Outlook.
I've got a few lusers that I'm trying to wean away from their outlook dependancy, but it's not going so well so far *sigh*
...the office I work in has several satellite dishes on the roof. I have a hell of a time getting the *local* stations in. Net radio stations are my only hope...;)
Here in Sacramento, AT&T *took over Comcast* and their cable modem service. Then they jacked up the prices very shortly after, and tech support went clear to hell. (I get sick of "power cycle your modem and call back in 1 hour" when the cable modem AND my cable TV are both out)
Now Comcast is buying back the bits AT&T bought form Comcast? what the hell is going on?
What cruel and unusual ways will they find to fuck up my billing *this* time?
I suppose it's the guise of "We're doing this to protect your CHILDREN, because we want to PROTECT them from all of those evil perverts out there" that gets the stuff actually in place (playing on the fears of the paranoid) and it winds up being use for other purposes (selling photos/etc to insurance companies)...and that's what would bother me.
Will this mean that we'll be forced to click "Accept" on a screen detailing the GPL before we download stuff from Freshmeat?
I've already seen that kind of stuff elsewhere... I suppose some people might put up some sort of license agreement page simply to cover their own tails. In this day & age, I often think that's a good idea... =/
"This is the same country that will let you sue a train company if you ignore all posted signs and warnings and illegally try to cross the tracks and as a result get killed. Not only will they let you sue, but they'll even let you win. It happened in Massachusetts a little while back"
If you get killed by a train and are still around to sue the railroad than damn it, you *deserve* to win that lawsuit.
Not entirely correct.. I've got Photoshop and Illustrator on CD for Irix.
I don't know if they make the product anymore, but it kind of proves that it *is* possible to move the products to a *nix-ish platform.:)
"Oh, we were tiiiiiiiiiiiiired.. so we went to sleep.. AND LEFT ALL OF THE WEBSITES DOWN."
What kind of geeks are you people? My god, has the Slashdot Staff gotten OLD or something? Wait, no.. I've seen 65yr old COBOL programmers stay up for 36hrs straight.
The Slashdot Staff didn't get old.. they just started getting paid and now they're all soft and weak. Bah! Pathetic!:P
I bet CmdrTaco can't even handle a 24hr Quake-III-a-thon these days.:P~

I couldn't agree more.. I'd love to see Generation II again.
As for Gen. III, rumour has it that all of the original footage of Gen. III was destroyed in a warehouse fire, and very little of it remains... I wonder if that's true or not.
I live in Sacramento, CA. You can get a rather nice 1 br/1ba apartment right in downtown for around $500..and no, it's not a ghetto ass place. Real estate is still fairly inexpensive up here.
Amtrak takes people right into the Silicon Valley.. I think they have like 8 trains a day.. or you can drive to Stockton and take the Altamont Commuter Express.
The biggest problem for dot-commers is when they buy the brand new Ford Domination or the Dodge Durango or the Boxter. No wonder they're broke. Yes, it's about a 2hr commute from Sacramento to the Bay Area, but the money you save would hopefully go into savings..:P Better to he unemployed with $500/rent than $2100/rent...
Nobody has mentioned support....

I don't see any graphic design houses switching from Photoshop to GIMP for one huge reason: support. At least if Photoshop harfs on you, all you need to do is give Adobe a call. No sifting through archives of the GIMP-users mailing lists, or digging through Google only to find 9 dozen articles on the Linux version of GIMP that don't answer your question.
3rd party plug-ins is another huge issue. TWAIN support? I don't know if GIMP will work with my scanner or not.. hmm..
Were it a native app that runs great with Aqua, people would probably like it as a shareware/freeware app, but probably not a lot more. But any way you look at it, it's nice to see apps moving over..
Get some earmuffs.:P Earplugs work great, or just listen to your music/etc through headphones.
Unreal Tournament through headphones is pretty cool. Your neighbors will appreciate the fact that you're using headphones instead of cranking up your Mackie 1200watt power amp powering 15 speakers just to drown out your PC, too.
I mean, it's kind of funny when your gaming is so loud the cops show up at your house thinking there's a war going on in your living room... but it's only funny the first few times it happens.:)

Arrrrrgh!!! That obnoxious "Gary Gnu" dude from "The Great Space Coaster" keeps popping into my head.
The LAST thing that I need is an image of Gary Gnu in my mind every time I see "GNU/Linux."

AT&T has prepaid wireless, too. They don't have my SSN at all.
Cuts down on the junk mail, too. I haven't seen one of those dumb "You're preapproved!" credit card offers in YEARS!

Would Ah-nuld or Stallone come out with guns? Or would Steven Segal open up a truckload o' whoop-ass on the lizards? ;)
What if your congressman is Gary Condit? We all know how useful HE is. ;)
