  2. I plan to stay away from this for many reasons.

    1. It's a Google product. Who knows how long this will be available anyway? Has anybody ever heard of sustainability and availability? If I just have to configure something new in a year, why did I bother with this one?
    2. It's a Google product. I don't want Google having ownership of my viewing information. Netflix is one thing, Google is another. I don't hear about Netflix tracking everything I do online and trying to advertise to me.

    I can't remember specifically anymore, but I think I remember learning in school that in English, a second nested parenthetical statement should be enclosed by square braces. So, for example (as opposed to something specific [like this]), this sentence contains a generic one.

    Does anybody else remember anything similar to that grammar rule?

  9. I use IMDB for reviews, sometimes. Mostly it's for all the links of actors to other works they've done. Sometimes for discovery of "You may like these..." films.

  10. Isn't that directory information? I suppose removing it from imdb.com makes it harder to learn an actor's age, but it's still out there people. You're in the public eye. Knowing exactly how old Natalie Portman is because imdb prominently displays it doesn't change anything.

  13. Yeah, some have installed one of the various "Religion" DLCs available. Some have entirely unpatched systems, which might give you malware if you connect. Exclusive provider contracts seem to be one of the most reliable ways to ensure continued and safe service. If you use more than once service provider, they both start denying service. Be sure to clear your cookies! Watch out for "free" upgrades that come with their own expensive expansion packs.

    Negroponte's Being Digital . It was assigned reading in college. I thought it was incredibly interesting. It predicted the rise of voice-controlled personal assistants like siri or cortana that can help you do things you could do in person like send a text message.

    Woosh, sensitive clod! Whatever is more than the starting amount for the next day ($150 sounds reasonable, spread across $20s, $10s, $5s, $1s and assorted change) gets dropped in the safe on-prem. Every so often an armored truck picks up the safe compartment and puts an empty one in its place. Cash is not the Orwellian dystopic supervision you portray it to be.
