Here ya go: One of my websites (I'm not posting a link because I'm not doing this to advertise my site:P) is about as non-geeky as it gets, deals with historical stuff, has a target audience who know more about old cars and books than computers and are on average probably well over 50 - it's not a major traffic magnet but still gets several hundred hits per day, so it's probably a fair demographic sample of Joe Sixpack net users. Current stats for April: * IE 82.2% * Firefox 8.5% * Mozilla 2.4% * Netscape 1.9% * Others
For comparison, here are the numbers for April 04... * IE 91.2% * Mozilla 3.6% * Netscape 2% * All the rest
...and October 04. * IE 85.7% * Mozilla 7.5% * Netscape 2.3% * Firefox 0.7% * Others
So there. Totally unscientific, but I can see a very noticeable rise in Firefox usage among the non-geeky web population.

There's a chicken joke somewhere in there, but I can't quite lay my fingers on it...
4D Sports Driving (aka Stunts) already had that feature in 1990...you could choose different camera angles (including a series of TV cameras automatically placed along the track), and you could save replays to disk. Coolest racing game ever...
The only Cray-I I've ever seen up close is the one at Deutsches Museum in Munich. It's actually quite comfortable to sit on, and the insides (at least right behind the panels, some of which have been replaced with clear plastic sheets) seem to contain nothing mecchanical (here's a photo of the museum's Cray). Might get a bit warm if you sit on tere while it's powered on, though:p
Couple of years ago, I worked for a company that constantly shipped machines between the LA and Germany offices. Needless to say, nobody ever checked the PSU settings before plugging in a machine (Germany runs on 220VAC) - not a problem for the LA guys because a 220V PSU that gets only 110V will simply not do very much, but we on the German side had lots of blown fuses and burnt-out PSUs to deal with.
Usual procedure was to set up the machines in the lab/training room to check the configuration before moving them to active duty (which had the added benefit that the occasional blown fuse would only affect the training room where usually nobody was working).
The real fun started when one day I set up a machine in the server room without checking the PSU setting. Of course, everythig in the server room is connected to a UPS, and the UPS kept supplying power to the poor PSU without even thinking about blowing a fuse...and supplying...and supplying...I noticed something was very wrong when the room started filling with blue smoke and molten plastic dripped from the machine's case. Always made sure to check every single PSU after that:p
I humbly submit that "Bullet in the Head" is the best John Woo film ever, and one of the best action movies of all time. And I'm one of those guys who actually liked A Better Tomorrow 2...great action scenes and what I thought was actually a pretty decent and compelling story.
...only for Schiller plays because that's what's usually read in German classrooms. Basically, we created a chart for every play where all the characters were connected by four different types of arrows which were labeled "kills", "tries to kill", "fucks" and "tries to fuck". Ah, the memories...
Here's two jpegs captured from the viewer: First one shows an overview of the launch site, the other one is a zoomed-in view of what appears to be the launch tower. Please be kind to my poor server...

Uh...you're probably trolling, but just for the record, the comic book series started back in 1999 (or 2000, I'm not 100% sure and too lazy to dig up my old issues). Don't know where you got that 2002 date, but it's probably the publishing date of the paperback collection. Check your facts before jumping to conclusions.

Yep, it's still there...has the very original name "cinema" and is about ten minutes' walk from the train station...but then, Munich is quite some distance from Düsseldorf...

A Cray is not a true Cray unless it can be used as a stylish sofa :p

Slashdot have strange editors.

Dunno, my first idea was traffic lights zapping speeders with red lasers of death...now that might be amusing to watch.
Either that, or they're using morse code to communicate with their computer.

By the year 2005, certainly.
Does that mean the Republicans invented Al Gore?
Cool, another slashdotter from Munich :)
