Until the OS ignores your HOSTS file for some hard-coded domains. If you can't trust your OS, why are you trusting it to filter things out? The filtering has to come from outside, from another system.
When you started as an assembly-language programmer, you and your peers knew WTF you were doing, down to how the CPU and peripherals works.
Look at the current trend of not bothering to learn even Javascript and start a new Website by including JQuery "just because" and you know it's not a good trend. Adding incompetent idiots to your field is not a good thing. Imagine doctors who couldn't operate if the Internet went down and their access to WebMD was cut. You wouldn't call them doctors and yet we have tons of so-called "programmers" who couldn't understand opcodes and registers because they would not be able to grasp the concept of no operating system and no libraries.
I see an HTML5 video just fine on my desktop system. Flash has been deleted from my system years ago. So basically, it's probably the Flash detection routines that are faulty.
Indeed. Once you've paid your rent, electricity, Internet connection and bought food, if you have any left then you can add basic services phone and television. Nobody who lives on minimum wage or close to it is spending enough to make any difference.
Well no wonder my browser froze up trying to load that crap. I bet everybody at Google only has the latest hardware and doesn't care about optimization.
So they use overlays like the old Intellivision game console instead of using a colour display? With Apple's "force touch" coming soon to the iPad, it will be a much better solution.
Also, minus several million points to Soulskill for not even linking to the Kickstarter page.
Oh, that's an excellent idea. Make the whole thing open source and open hardware, 3D-printable casing, etc.
Use 12×12mm buttons and round button caps. Just pick another colour than white for the button cap so Amazon won't complain about the "design trademark" and make the whole thing send something like an email so it's platform-agnostic.
If you need something like those Dash buttons, you really need to learn to manage your inventories. Let's take paper towels for example. Always have two packs in your house. When the first pack is finished and you open up the second one, buy another pack the next time you shop for groceries or whatnot.
And since I'm talking to programmers here, the newly opened second pack becomes the first pack and the newly bought pack becomes the second one./sigh

Flash is even more CPU-intensive.
That website is so bandwidth and CPU intensive that I thought it was a black empty page for nearly ten seconds.
Not only is it possible to talk to the dead but some of them are so grateful that they sing.
You should upgrade to the T-1000, it automatically configures itself for the required tasks.

Hi, I'm a friend of parent AC above, and he's asking how long it's going to take before he can safely leave the cave?
Cops? What cops? Look at the equipment used by cops today in the USA. They're local S.W.A.T. teams now.

They're idiots. They should have made the diesel nozzle larger than the gas nozzle and the gas nozzle larger than the diesel nozzle.
Problem solved!
It takes a really stupid engineer to assume that all users will never do a single mistake.
I'm quite sure the people in Alpha Centauri don't want our cavemen medicine.
I was replying to FranTaylor who said "why can't you run a 3-d printer from a normal computer?".
I wouldn't call a Minnowboard a "normal computer".
And size aside, the power requirements of an Intel Atom can't compare to an Atmel 2560.
What Flash? I don't have Flash on my system and when I click on the play button the video starts playing.
Apple = Steve Jobs
IoT = Steve Wozniak
Why would you attach such a huge, heavy and power-hungry anchor to something like a 3D printer?
A lot of 3D printers are autonomous and print directly from SD/microSD cards these days.

You either didn't read the article or you're an idiot.
