Don't bother looking at sales data, just look at Visual Studio 2010 and Expression. Microsoft's development tools are getting really, really good. It's a pretty big learning curve to get a feel for the enormous surface area of the new APIs, but the fact that you can target desktop, web, and mobile with the same framework is very, very powerful. Microsoft could really dominate if they opened up Silverlight more. Doing that might cost them some Windows desktop sales, but probably not many. And it would force Apple into another situation similar to what happened with Adobe, only this time the applications iOS users would miss out on would be far superior to anything they missed out on for lack of Flash.
Even if you're a diehard *nix or Apple type get a buddy with MSDN to hook you up with those tools and check it out. It's very cool.
Have two queues: Low latency and Bulk. Use the ToS field is decide which one to put it in. Give customers two quotas, say 2gb bulk and 500mb low latency. Charge more for extra low latency traffic and less for extra bulk traffic. Don't use IP addresses, transport protocols or port numbers to decide what is real time and what is bulk. That would be a fair system for making the best use of limited network resources.
Buying music or videos is morally wrong because those who get most of the money are waging war on us. The entertainment industry is unproductive. Even if it was completely destroyed and all entertainment related jobs were lost, it would be a net positive for the economy and overall productivity.
So if you believe the current model is outdated, do whatever you want, just don't give them your money. Do not pay for movies or music.
It's no better to be interrogated every time you fly. It's none of their business who you are, who you know, where you are going, what you are doing there, what kind of work you do, etc.
Yes, fdisk still sucks if you're trying to multiboot, but in today's age of virtualization who does that anymore? OpenBSD's fdisk has a Use [W]hole Disk option during the install and a -I option from the shell to make partitioning just as easy as Linux or Windows.
OpenBSD has the most intuitive installer of any OS.
Well, obviously they need to do something to CONTINUE to spy on everyone... Now that Google has enabled HTTPS for searches they need to come up with some bullshit pretext to coerce cooperation.
It has already passed the DMCA, nationalized most of the banking and auto industries, and decided it's OK to execute its own citizens on the mere accusation of wrongdoing by the executive branch.
The only thing laughable is the notion that the American public would stand up to it.

You get no say in where I store data.
I will never buy anything from them again, and I will do my best to persuade others from doing so.

The insight into the cynical way governments cover this stuff up is maybe more interesting than the contents of the leak itself.

They should have just deleted the data and shut up about it. Why they went public is beyond me.
