It is relatively easy to start tossing large rocks that plunge to earth with high impact results. Aiming the things is a little delicate, however.

Glad you hit on one point, the other is that it is infinitely easier to fire large rocks/missiles/bombs/whatever from a much lower earth orbit. Say anything below 24,000 miles?

Only if you use a race based standard, like the theme of your poost.

The USA blocks China mainly because of their overt statements that they want to destroy the US and some of our allies, like Taiwan.

We had an embargo on Japan when they were saying similar things pre-WWII.

Besides, even those efforts wained during the Clinton administration, with plenty of US payloads and US rocket technology launching from China for Irridium.

    Hope this helps you.

  6. "Cookoo's Egg" on More on Intel v. Hamidi · · Score: 2

Sounds like this shares legal elements from Cliff Stohl's book "Cookoo's Egg".

There were little or no monitary damages, but the FBI refused to persue it at first because of ploicy, i.e., the damages were less than $1,000,000 even though the activity was still illegal.

The cases detract from each other, since Intel obviously wanted *some* e-mail and Stohl wanted *no* tresspassers, but stil I think Intel is in the right on this one and seems to have lawyers that even allpied something *applicable* to the case.

Much better than the DoJ inventing damages to prosicute Kevin Mitnick, even though he did plenty of chargable (but not as headline worthy as "hacking") acts/offenses/etc.

Okay folks, everyplace with a large mob influence has had it's phones tinkered with by the mob. This is old, but has not been talked about for a while, so it is a visit back to news.

Back in the day, New York City had a privat phone network for the "mob", created with "idle" equipment and bribes to phone workers. Result, FBI taps were tapping the known phone numbers and the mob guys were using the "secret" network.

Also, as far as rerouting disconnected numbers for fun and profit, lookup Poulsen's antics, plus other fun stuff.

I will have to say that it is about time that a Telco is getting called on the carpet for their lack of security, rather than just grebbing another Kevin Mitnic or whomever and blaming every problem on them, then discovering the problem still exists after you take away his access to communications.

My home "workstation" is a docked Panasonic CF-01. I sync my Visor and VisorPhone through the IR port whenever I am home. No physical connection needed either, just the IR ports of both devices.

Considered a Treo, but a lightning bolt hit when I realized the Panasonic is a "big giant" palm device when I want to carry it (home-rolled case is a small Meade folder, daytimer size, with rings removed, fits fine, has places to store pcmcia cards too). I love the Visor Pro too, can still access everything while on the phone using hands free adapter.
