    My ancient GM has never been stolen. Then again I question why I lock the car each day, since it spends it's life on the roads, in my garage or (favorite) behind a barbed wire fence, a small police force and armed guards menacingly waving M-16s.

    What is the really effective solution, that works all the time, is nuclear. By increasing to 1000% of current plants we could run the whole world on nuclear (only a few thousand plants, actually.) Minus hydro of course. And doing that would make nuclear cheaper as well.

    A more accurate statement: 1. Over 90% of scientists think the Earth is more likely to be warming up than cooling down. Even skeptics usually agree with this. 2. Most of these scientists said humans had some sort of impact on the climate, but exactly how much was under debate. In fact, the consensus view at present is that the impact of CO2 is overestimated.     That site is known to be a bit of an extreme one. Not the greatest source ever (but neither would I necessarily qoute WattsUpWithThat as a neutral source.) Fair is fair.

    I'd say mandatory rehab is probably a better option than prison, considering drug use levels inside prison. Drug dealers, on the other hand still need to be prosecuted. And offshore money is just a reflection of our absurd corporate taxes. If we want companies to come back to the US kill off corporate taxes. It's only 11% or so of our taxes anyway.

    I'd say my typical statement: It's not neccessarily leftists. It's whoever is in power. If you have power, you attempt to silence speech of opposition. During earlier times conservatives did the same, now liberals are. If it shifts to another side again they will attempt to silence dissenting speech. It's one of the upsides of a country with politics like a pendulum, speech restrictions can only get so bad before they get better.

    American Scientist is the professional magazine. I still read SA but I ignore anything they say about global warming, they seem to be obsessed with it.

  15. How many people with tremors even use a phone... More because they are just so old they have some issues coping with new technology, unfortunately. This is really meant for the general userbase.

  16. They probably still don't have monthly security updates. They should make it an integrated OS feature that Google can push updates automatically on everyone. Security only, of course. But there are all these vendors trying to get you to buy phones, and if you have a malware-ridden phone you pretty much have to buy a new one.

    It's got better since LanMan and the Ping of Death. Windows security is summed up as this: 1. Always use the latest version of Windows. 2. Don't use IE. 3. Use 2-3 antimalware programs. 4. Always check installers thoroughly. This is miserable from my point of view after having to do no work in Linux and little in OS X for security. I swear, I forgot to check the stupid little boxes on installers enough to set my search engine to Yahoo five times and install at least 3 dumb toolbars.

    Actually they should be publicly posted in my opinion. The number of people willing to donate a few Kbits of DDoS power is astounding- and since it's over Tor you can't really stop it from coming.
