More like a set of power tools. Some people use them well, but a lot of them just manage to hammer thumbs, drill feet and amputate limbs. OS X is like that, only the chainsaw is at the bottom, underneath the rubber hammers and brads that make up most of it, the most dangerous thing there being a hot glue gun (removed in the latest version.) Linux is like owning a Home Depot.
Y'know, I'm a small government fan but also an aggressive anti-truster. Seems to me that we should just start threatening to smash the ISPs into tiny little pieces if they don't improve.
So who exactly does have jurisdiction over the Internet? It doesn't have an established location. It probably needs a special court. Maybe we can add it to our collection of trade and military courts- the Internet Court. Just a thought.
I'm actually considering building my next phone. Sure, it will be clunkier than regular phones but it will be faster and I will have TOTAL control over it. I'm currently currently eyeing a Braswell pico-ITX board from China.
Yep, IPC improvement is minimal these days. The slowing PC market is beacuase of a "fast enough" philosophy. Most people with PCs own C2Ds that aren't going to be replaced until the PSU dies, and maybe not even then.
I bothered myself to take a look for various reasons. It had a section on data centers. I swear I have never seen a more buzzword filled paragraph ever. It even had a section on "reducing water usage in data centers" that went on. Clearly they didn't get that data centers get cooler and more efficient by THEIRSELVES.
DDR4 isn't much better than DDR3 other than clocks. DDR is really reaching the end of its capabilities from my point of view. Once they start stacking RAM on chip or using optic instead of electronic buses, things will improve a lot.
Well, to quote a book:
Well, at least (villainous politician) is honest.
What? But (villain) bought him off!
No, I mean that once he's bought, he stays bought.
Actually with improved video decoders it's true. The rest of the computer will low-power mode while only the computer runs. For example, a demo Carrizo machine got something like 11hr when playing a 1080p HEVC video, while lasting nowhere near as long at general use.
Followed by this article:
98% of Americans abandoning broadband say that lousy ISPs were the primary reason for doing so.
"Even 4G LTE is cheaper than the rippoff prices" said one user.
"Verizon wouldn't offer us any FIOS, so this was our only non-DSL option." another claimed.
In other news, Google Fiber and FIOS are holding onto 90% of users.
Actually no, since all the weapons are on one side. And all the money. And all the food. So a civil war would be short and miserable for city dwellers.
Er, the reason nuclear plants are so expensive are because the safety regulations are over the top and there aren't many being built.
Well, first time I've seen that in a long time. Sounds like this Xkcd (https://xkcd.com/644/) might have something to do with it.
Uh oh.... Attack of the Puppies.
Now, an attack on the electrical grid will only require a small rowboat!!!

Just add a 4G dongle and buy VOIP service and call it a day. Or even just buy WiFi calling off the Republic Wireless people.

Trust random internet porn sites? Or even mainstream ones (I suppose there must in theory be some.)
Classical liberalism is more similar to libertarianism and conservatism than progressivism and socialism. So the word has changed too.

They were still making them? I would have thought they would have killed it off as soon as XB1 came out.
Actually "obscenity" is not protected. If porn isn't obscene, what is??

They say that a "shady party" is one involving a PG-13 movie and a six pack... Of root beer.
I suspect the same people who talk about 2016 being the "warmest on record" are going to be awful quiet during next year's likely La Nina.

Yeah, Intel performance gains since Sandy Bridge have been lousy since AMD just isn't all that competitive.

Well, with the whole EU thing you probably just have to get a French license, only live in the Netherlands.
How did you hear about him? Oh, word of mouth or something. Wait a second. He's snuck over from marketing!!!!
