For a nation to work properly the indivdual must put the nation before him or her self. *However* other systems have made the mistake of not realizing that this placing of the nation before individual needs must *absolutely* be *voluntary*.
When you force the nation before the individual, only then does the system fail...ANY system which forces participation is doomed to failure eventually... be it a nation or a company.

that we have to *buy* a device to get rid of an inconsiderate business practice.
Seems to me if we had legislators with ANY backbone whatsoever this practice would not be allowed. I find it hard to believe that the american public actually WANTS telemarketing.
"Looks like Red Hat is moving towards the windows XP style using its new Bluecurve graphical interface."
Excuse me... might you mean the OS X style Bluecurve graphical interface? Lets be honest here.. if it wasn't for Aqua.. The Luna derivative would probably never have been...and consequent derivatives.
Eventually as the process becomes less expensive and less time consuming we should see this slowly seep into the public sector.. once that happens the scare of it should wear off as the uses of it take shape.
Personally, I think we're going to be seeing a LOT of gene therapy in our lifetime..
I just know I'm gonna be the last person on earth to die!

Personally, I think that NO bills should have names.. only numbers, and basic subject classifications for storage purposes..
This way if there is much ado about bill-1384343-3434 of U.S. tax law then the *only way* to figure out what you want to know about the bill is to actually *learn* about it!
Government and business are ***relying too much*** on the ***ignorance and apathy*** of the people, to be beneficial to the people.
Yes.. Microsft makes good mice joysticks etc.. but these devices are limited in their ability to be "used" by Microsoft, that's why you are seeing negativity.
If the article was about an MS mouse it probably would have been very positive. I myself have two MS mice because I like them. However, I'm quite skeptical of MS hardware involving networks. MS has a long history of "using" whatever it can to manilpulate markets.. why should networking hardware be different.
I do agree that it's prettier and it's fun, but for some reason it feels like regular vanilla unreal with a few sprinkles..
of course, I'm using a 900mhz athlon and GeForce 3 and it feels choppy (which detracts from gameplay which was UT's strongpoint), which I'm sure is detracting from my enjoyment of it... So far I give it 7 out of 10.. I'm sure it'll grow on me after a while.
I was able to blend into almost any social group.. the unfortunate side effect of this: No one really notices me now.
When you blend into the background sometimes you get left there.
Tell the CEO that the only way you'll submit your credit information is if he'll submit to an equal anal cavity search complete with paperwork.
Isn't it obvious? She's an Apple employee trying to get a story on slashdot to get more hits for her .mac website!
Now where did I put my tinfoil hat!?
Hey! Our president didn't waste his time with violence inspiring video games and look at how calm and relaxed and well adjusted he turned out!
It's a joke people!
..and of course by then the warranty will be one month too.
Probably less tongue in cheek than I'd like that prediction to be.
"it seems to me that Moore's Law has lasted a lot longer then the throng of people who keep predicting its death."
You could say the same thing about Apple.
Now the static will be nothing *but* messages!
I'm turning in my tinfoil hat. They're just too good.

One computer to find them.
One computer to bring them all.
I don't have to carry identification EVER!
or in other words.. Eolas would accept a larger than normal payout.
Does it really matter if we really went to the moon or not..
If we did... *Hurrah*!
If we didn't then...oh shock! our government lied for political reasons.
Whether we did or didn't is irrelevant to things that should be addressed today.
We all know this is just a cover story for the REAL secret messages in the static!

I'm sure there would be tons of people willing to donate.

While I do agree with your sentiment..
There's a reason they call "Old English".. Old English..

For those who may be humor impaired, this post was tongue in cheek
