    They certainly do exist. The speed difference between OS9.2.1 and OSX is astonishing. The thing is, most of the people that I know that have Macs and don't like OSX are graphic designers that must use Photoshop (which until recently was not OSX compatible) and Quark (which for some reason was just updated but is not OSX compatible). I don't think these people (graphic designers!+*nix =ouch!) are candidates for a *nix distro of any kind though.

    I wouldn't normally reply to a reply that would not have normally been made but you make some good points. Of course the desire to spell the name 'Britney Spears' correctly was completely absent. Secondly, sometimes you must buy gifts for people who don't think they need them, i.e. mouthwash for the stinkmouthed.

    Back in my day we had to run string and tin cans to people we wanted to talk to. Seriously, it isn't so much the telephone as the gateways that a telephone with some bandwidth would open up. Also, I was speaking more generally about 'new technology' i.e. WiFi, 3G et al.

    Some of us are 'in the office' when we are sitting on the beach or just hanging out at home with the family. Technologies such as this might allows us to alter the paradigm and give workers less reason to need to 'get away from it all'

    Did you want to run a warez server on your cellphone? Publish documents to the web? I think upstream on a phone is probably limited to 'thanks for the packet, it was good' over and over again or text messages.

    True enough. However, those plans do not have big X's on them signifying the location of any of the buildings contents. For instance, if you had 5 identical buildings on the same block with the server located in one of them the plans would not tell you anything you needed to know.

    But this is the same as buying stolen goods. In creating a demand for used cd's you encourage sales of new cds. After all in order for a cd to be sold as used it must at some point be sold as new.

    Why disable, when you can get one with no region coding at all. Look at this. You can get them on ebay for about US$149. Not only is it region free, you can watch PAL or NTSC, you can listen to Mp3's and watch all the VCD/SVCD's you want...

    Or in anticipation of many orders they ordered a whole boatload of them at $400... In fact, if this order was large enough it could have caused toshiba to step up and increase manufacturing speed, which increased supply, which drove the price down to it's current level. We may have Apple to thank for the low price of the firefly.

    I don't like to nitpick but all those NHL games are property of the NHL. That is why the stations have to broadcast that part about how the game should not be rebroadcast, etc without the express written consent of the NHL. Just because something is on a station does not mean they automagically own the content therein.
