Put your books for sale on Amazon and buy your new books from amazon used as well. Not only do you get a far better selling price but you also get to buy and sell directly to other students rather than having to deal with the nasty campus bookstore.
They already have a lot of users and you get a better market that trying to sell just to students at your tiny liberal arts school.
Do what I did: I listed all my textbooks on Amazon marketplace and Half.com at the same time. When one sold one one site I pulled it from the other. In the end I made enough money to buy my new books from Amazon/Half used from other students.
I ran Cat5 to my entertainment system for two reasons: Xbox and TiVo. Since they're both using ethernet I see nothing to get excited about over this release. Linksys already makes some great products for bridging ethernet to 802.11b/g that are tailored just for the ps2/gc/xbox and they're probably cheaper in the longrun, plus they can be used with anything, not just your Xbox (wanna extend your network to your neighbor's house? Use one of linksys's thingamabobs)
Now what would get me excited would be a good RF controller for the xbox made by microsoft. I just used the wavebird for the first time about a week ago and it totally blew my mind. Who needs wires for controllers?
I would never have even considered ATI before QuakeCon 2002. Since then and their ultra-cool "chill-out booth" I've warmed up to them a lot. In fact, so much athat I'm buying a 9800Pro next week.
Also it didn't hurt that they had the #1 GPU at the time and gave a me a free shirt =]
Check out Splinter cell for the xbox or PC. ALL of the animations for Sam Fisher were not done with mocap. Everything was had drawn and animated and it looks perfect. This isthe type of game that I would have expected to see a great deal of mocap (lots of character movement in different areas) but instead they managed to make a game that's fun to play and visually innovative in the fluidity of the character movements.
This is pretty bad news. I wonder if this is the first step in the process of charging for MSN messenger usage....will never happen as long as AOL's free. People will just give MSN messenger a big Fuck You and move over to AOL (which is a GREAT service) or even the marginal Yahoo Instant Messenger.
Games are the reason that when I moved to a new town I already had friends here. I recently moved away from my smallish town of 100,000 or so people to go to college in the big city of Arlington, smack in the middle of the DFW metroplex. Fortunately that first weekend I was already hanging out with my clan buddies at a local Cici's scarfing down pizza like mad.
We still do lots of stuff together, from playing paintball to going to see Carlin on new years eve, and of course, playing Quake-based games against each other. Anybody who's never gone over to a friend's house and watched demos of quake 3 matches still isn't a true gaming geek.
Well, the difference you see between Carmack and others is that when a new engine comes out from id we can all say "Fuck! Carmack did this and he kicked fucking ass!" whereas other companies have entire teams to do the same thing.
Excuse the language...just got back from a week at QuakeCon 2003:)
I don't think that cameras are a big worry. If anything they only make the kids behave better and prevent slacking off from teachers. However, I think that just cameras are fine, adding microphones is going one step too far.
Of course anything can be abused, though, so that's a moot point.
Well, this brings up an interesting point: for all that MS makes of software piracy and compansating uber-huge conglomerates what if they DON'T register all their new copies of Linux?
Would it mean that they don't think SCO has a case or does it mean that they really don't give a flip about piracy?
Don't blame them. They just happen to live in a country that has great strategic relationships with American companies.
Blame the companies that don't care about their workers and would rather have 1,000 camels coding than 1 guy that actually has inconvenient things like families and car payments

Naw, Acclaim would've put Call of Duty CDs on tombstones at Omaha Beach and told people to "experience the game!"

"It looks like you're trying to land a plane. Would you like lunch?"
"It looks like you're trying to talk to a pilot. Would you like to write a letter to him?"
"It look like you're trying to turn me off. Dave. Don't do that Dave."
There's nothing wrong about being a hypocrite, Anon stranger.

You can almost hear the web server quietly muttering "Game Over!"

I know that this sounds terrifying but you could try...talking to them!
eeek!

or the "millionaires" candidate.
Yup, that never works. Perhaps that's why we got this guy.
a Ferret?
According to Terminator 3 that would be Judgement Day.

in other news....
Ken Lay remarked, "amateur."

But they prolly did register it. That sucks.
of course! Because now they're on the road to legit profits!
wait.....no.
Which begs the question: Who'd harder to understand, a scot or indian guy?

Proxies are allowed, to
In that case I'll use anonymizer. Should make the wedding interesting.
