I could never see Google as giving higher rankings in searches, even for blogs...I've read over and over that one of their unshakeable, cast in stone ideals is not to taint search results with paid results.
The minute they did it with one thing, even if it were blog searches, it opens up a pandora's box of questions and opportunities: i.e. "Well, we need cash and we sold search results for GooBlogs, so why not for web searches??"
I've had problems with Safari since a few days after it was released when I tried to access Wells Fargo. For some reason they see Safari as a "secuity risk" but right now I'm logged into WF online through Phoenix 0.5
Saying NO BETA SOFTWARE is just silly. Just makes me mad when I have to either use Chimera (which is still beta itself) or enable the debug menu and tell the server i'm on MSIE6.0 WinXP =[
well, i'd be downloading the client, but the FTP server is saying that it's 10 spots are all full right now at 5AM.
c'mon now, this is Slashdot! Open 400,000 users on your FTP server, pay for all the bandwidth yourself, go bankrupt, then post your project on sourceforge =]
I find that a lot of people usually turn that bugger of autodownload off.
The problem is that Unreal, Quake, etc. aren't that efficient at sending big files when you have to "autodownload" a level. Effectively this slows down the connection for the server and makes the client have to sit at their coomputer for a long time and wait for a new map to download. Usually by the time that map has downloaded you've missed that whole round and end up downloading a brand new map again.
It's a lot easier to download stuff from Fileplanet (ick...waiting in line for a file) or elsewhere: it's faster and easier in the long run
and don't forget about the box game that everybody on windows plays...
you know the box game: it's when nothing is on your desktop so your use the selection box to randomly select things and make the box flip, get bigger, etc.
hey, i totally agree, just an ounce of security would keep this from heppening, but i've had a few friends install java telnet clients on their servers and tell me about how great that now they could admin their server from the web...
like it's that hard to telnet (or, if you're smart enough to disable telnet) ssh into the server
According to a spot for the NFL that i just saw not only is telecasts or the like illegal of the superbowl, so are "accounts" so stop talking now or i'll whip out my ABC lawyers (powered by Disney)

well, Apple's browser is not free, technically (to Apple, that is). Apple has to invest development time and pay those people to make the software, whereas Chimera is totally free and open sourced....i.e. the development time is donated.
Safari vary well could die, but only if Apple died with it.
However, I seem to remember Apple hiring the oroginal Chimera guy a while back and that's what got all the rumours started about the Apple browser. The big thing is whenever IE stops shipping with the macs, or at least leaves the dock on boot-up.

no kidding, about 5 or 6 hardware review sites open up every week it seems
and with the internet blocking their real identity i'll bet that most of them are run by people still reading dickens in high school english classes.
as a journalist myself on some level, it sickens me that real journalists now have to compete with "jimmy @ 3Xtr3m3 h@rdware" for credibility.
Apple: Hello, how can I help you? User: Well, I was playing around with my Powerbook G5 and I have a problem. Apple: What's wrong with it? User: The case is stuck in disco mode, iTunes keeps blaring Donna Summer music, and I haave a board meeting in 10 minutes.

I think this is highly unlikely
yeah, but this coming from a drunk =]
This has the potential to be huge... Google Blogs..
Not only could you search the Internet, but you could refine your searches just to other people's thoughts, etc.
Mark another one up for Google being one of the best tech companies in the business world.

Damn, that's cool. I wish Quake 3 did that.

actually, wasn't Barney sober in the episode when homer went into space?
"I don't understand, that was non-alcoholic beer..."

Bart: "But they provide you with free and quality content!"

"pffft, is it v.3.21.7?"
