I predict that there will be at least two of everything in the bag, and taco won't realize until he actually sees them right next to each other or somebody says "Hey! You've got two PowerBooks! Ha! Dupe!"
With everybody clicking on the link at roughly the same time the server suddently gets a rush of hits and, with each new httpd process, all of them slow down.
Even though the first guy to click the link may have been *first* that doesn't bean that the other 200,000 people won't prevent the server from sending the data.
Subscribing helps because you get the links before the swarms of non-registered lurkers and non-subscribers but, then again, it's not for everybody. Frankly I seee $5 every couple of months as a perfectly reasonable price to pay for what slashdot gives me back.
"Sorry, links to Bugzilla from Slashdot are disabled."
Why's that?

You forget, though, that Longhorn will make security breaches in Windows a thing of the past. Once that comes out everybody will upgrade (even grandma with her P133 playing Yahoo! Bridge) and then all security problems will just go away.
please keep in mind that this is a concept car and will never make it intto production. The ideas introduuced here are purely for show and might be brought into their actual product lines later on in this or other forms.
This is NOT a new car on the market with a hood welded shut.
3. More flying (helicopters were hands down the best improvement to the vehicles in GTA: VC).
No, the best vehicle improvement in VC was motorcycles. I'd take screaming down the road, cutting corners on a crotch rocket any day over riding in a helicopter.
That reminds me of a experiment that my dad and I undertook a few years back. We were trudging through a Hobby Lobby with my mom, looking at silly kinck-knacks that nobody ever buys and he got the idea to put one on ebay.
We found an 'old looking' horse coach model and bought it for 5 dollars that day. He put it up on ebay and said that "we found it in the attic. It must be comething that my grandmother bought back in the day. It seems really old but overall it looks like new."
You felt the need to link to microsoft's site in your post? You're new here so I'll give you that, but you don't have to do that. For example, the following phrases would all work too:
"The great satan" "Bill the Impaler" "The guys in Redmond" "Generic Microsoft Comment #5F" "OMG LINUX RAWKS. DIE M$ DIE DIE DIE!!!!1"
GTA3 and Vice city were Really Good games. Just because you may think that an 8-bit game is better back in the day doesn't mean that nothing will ever supercede it.
I can see this same logic applied to FPS games back when Half-Life came out: "Well, just because half-life came out this year it's going to get all the awards while Wolf3D is really a good game as well." Yeah! No shit newer games may get awards...could it be possible that they are...better?!?!
True diversity, Charney said, would require thousands of different operating systems, which would make integrating computer systems and networks virtually impossible. Without a Microsoft monoculture, he said, most of the recent progress in information technology could not have happened....and that's right when I fell out of my chair laughing. And before my morning Dew, no less!
I believe (RTFA, please) that he wanted a good way to leverage unused bandwidth for large file distribution.
Linux ISO's are a good example, and are probably the first place that I saw bittorrent used right here on slashdot. Make the/. effect work for you, essentially.
When I buy pants from Target I get to simply tap on a small device outside the changing rooms which, upon generating a small noise, identifies me to the salespeople as needing access. They then use one of their access control devices to allow me to gain access to the room.
Don't even get me started on the 'pants restraining device' that wraps around my waist.
Perhaps its been fixed by now but in the last nightly build for Mac I used you couldn't do a Command-M to minimize the app to the dock. That needs to be there for sure.
3 - expect some boob to start dling kiddy porn and get you in trouble with your isp and have your connection cut off... ( remember most AUP's prohibit this with out a business account )
So you're saying that all I need to do is get a biz account and I can download kiddie pr0n? Finally! The answer to my problems presents itself.

5 days later it sold for $25.

It's a good thing that eminem is suing Apple for the lost revenue. Maybe now he can buy that cute little Miata that he's had his eye on...
well put. totally agree with you ;p

yikes. the site says that it was released on January 12th. Stuff really dies sit in the queue for slashdot forever!
I'd say that that big cluster of Macs could handle it....Have you tried running sendmail on that cluster?
You must be new here (well, not judging by your user number) but still, nobody reads the articles. FP is just too valuable for your ego.
...and its a great job too. I'm getting into D as well, since it's gotta be better than C++
