my poor server is now putting out right at 9.88MB/sec with only about 38GB xferred over the last 24 hours (as of this post)
However, Apache seems to have hit its 150-client limit. If you're trying to connect and it times out then sorry! Everybody else that's connected should be getting good speeds, though;)
I'm waiting right now on midget technology to hit the mainstream. Never heard of it? It's easy. You go into Wal*Mart, tell the cashier that you want a can of peas and an army of midgets disperse across the store to find a can of peas. The more midgets you buy the faster the data accessing speeds are.
Don't worry about the prices, either. Midgets are cheap at current market prices and, if a big retailer like Wal*Mart got into the midget trade, then the price of a farm-grown midget would probably bottom out.
A few years back I took a tour of KDGE here in dallas. The Edge is probably one of the biggest stations in the DFW metroplex, and there are a few other stations based out of the same offices.
Well, as we went into the booth for the 'oldies' station the DJ started talking to us and mentioned that he was recording the morning show for Phoenix that would air tomorrow. He also said that he was the voice for something like 6 other stations, just with different names, personas, etc.
Also, back in my small hometown the local Clear Channel station ditched the local morning guys and decided to go with some syndicated bullshit that is generic for ANY market; Think of them saying "Man, it sure is cold!" "Hell yeah!" and of course all of the call-in stuff is BS to the extreme. Call the number, give the `DJ` your request and it may be considered by the CC people if its requested in enough numbers.
You know what's a lot more satisfying? What lets you listen to the song a bunch of times, even on your iPod? Fucking KaZaa. Download music. Why would you request something then wait 4 hours for it to come on the radio?
If I'm reading the FAQ correctly then it looks to me like students at PSU can stream any song that they want but if they want to actually put it on an iPod^H^H^H^HiRiver or whatever then they actually have to shell out their own money for the track that they then can keep for playing away from their computer.
Also, since this is a service that is drawn from out of the students' tuition fees that means that everybody is paying for it. What about people with a Mac? What about Linux/BSD geeks?
There are a lot of services that I pay on my tuition that I don't actively take advantage of (health services, gym, etc.) but at least with those I can say, "Well, I may be paying for them but at any time I can begin to take advantage of the services that I'm paying for just buy walking over to the Gym" However, in this situation if all I had was my PowerBook I would be paying for a service that I `literally` could not take advantage of. I'm paying for a service that in no way can be used without me investing in a Wintel XP/2000 PC. That sucks.
It's important for standards organizations to be taken seriously if people want to actually see careful and appropriate change made. We could, I suppose, say that the W3C is completely useless because Microsoft essentially dictates what will and will not be a standard on the majority of platforms but that doesn't make the W3C any more useless. Actually, it makes it much more important to look for a body that can develop RFC's and such so that we can all look at the proposed solutions and say yes or no. When a corporation decides on something it just happens and all we have to fall upon to stop the adoption of a (potentially) damaging standard is the free market system. However, in this situation that wouldn't have much of a bearing on a system that doesn't technically bring Yahoo! any more revenue.
There is a jack on the back called 'ethernet' from what it looked like. What worries me about that, though, is that it's right next to the powersupply. Hope that its shielded with fucking lead or you could get some bad interference...

I don't hate Bush, I just hate the people that tell him what to do. He's just a puppy caught in the headlights that needs to occasionally grabbed by the scruff of the neck and yanked out of the road by the GOP leadership.
What I said was that I support going to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. What I also said was that, while I would give Bush the credit for pushing us in that direction, I would have to bite my lip to say 'thanks,' kinda like I did when he passed the do-not-call list (which is a great thing to do, very DNC-like of him)
And it's kinda hard to get anything done when the GOP (the current ruling party in American politics) decides to gerrymanger districts in places like my home state (Texas) and essentially eliminate any traditionally democratic bloc of voters. Have you seen Austin's votting map now? It's insane how they tried to spread out the progressives! Yikes!
Remember when conservatives were all about limiting government spending? Wow. what the hell ever happened to that party?
I suppose Bush may be looking for a 'legacy' here. JFK is always thought of when people mention Apollo and other programs from that era. I'd personally hate to lay the credit for a return to space on Dubya.
Update!

do what I did. Get a job at a state government org. Since there's no motivation to make a profit or anything it gets pretty laid back around here...

The solution to randomness is to spell check and grammar check incoming e-mail

Apparently you've never gotten emails from either a:
1) 14-year old girl
2) Gamer
3) UNIX sysadmin describing a sendmail
Yikes.
Look at this picture http://gallery.tomservo.net/phantom/phantom_screen 003 and you'll see that right next to the power supply is a jack that says "10/100 LAN" right under it.
36. Does the SCO IP License for Linux include a media kit?
...great. so you've just purchased literally nothing. Good job, dumbass.
No. Nothing needs to be installed on the client, server or embedded device.

I've rarely seen somebody nail it on the head better. Thanks.
I always get a laugh out of the old saying that he was a 'compassionate conservative'
Basically this means that conservatives everywhere else aren't compassionate. Always a good thing to trumpet around the nation.
