Also note that the iLife suite isn't free anymore. If you want the updates (and GarageBand) then you either have to buy a new mac or the $50 package from Apple.
Without a doubt, anytime that I head the theme song for any "Monkey Island" game it gives me the chills. I have so many good memories of that game during my childhood that I'll never forget those games!
Take one look at the sites for IGN and gamespy and you'll see exactly why they are being nice to the N-Gage now: ADVERTISING!!!
Nokia's been running ads for the N-Gage pretty heavily on all the major gaming outlets and the money people probably whispered in some editor's ear that pissing off the people that pay for ads is a bad idea. Also, every single 'big' game site launched a N-Gage area on their respective sites. That doesn't just happen for every flash in the pan system or we'd be browsing the Gamespy Phantom section right next to the Xbox reviews. Nokia either twisted some arms or stuffed some wallets to get stuff like that done on a brand-new system that wasn't guaranteed to be huge (like the Xbox launch)
I've begun to rely on what Gabe and Tycho and Penny Arcade say about games. Every single recommendation they've made has been correct (KOTOR and Prince of Persia come to mind). Also, back at E3 they trashed the shitty N-Gage and have been doing so ever since for a good reason: The Nokia N-Gage sucks shit!
Many times I've been going somewhere and either needed to get directions for the drive or a phone number and I pulled my PowerBook up to the front seat to get the info. I tried to at least stop somewhere first though...
Speaking of ads, my roommatte pointed out something funny about my TiVo:
I got the tivo partly to skip ads, now I never have to watch them during the shows I record (thank GOD for the 30-sec backdoor)
However, every week a new add will show up on the tivo main screen and I always watch those. He asked me why, if I hate ads so much, I watch the longer-form ads just because tivo wants me to see them.
I really don't care much for noisy keyboards either. I picked up one exactly like the one at work: a Dell Quietkey. Sure, it's not *silent* but it has the right 'feel' to it and manages not to wake up my roommate even when i'm coding, and I tend to type like the Hulk:pound, pound, pound...compile error...TOM ANGRY!!!...pound, pound, pound...etc.
...reminds me of the old Day of the Tentacle game where you could swap between characters as the game progressed. I'll assume that the only difference between Maniac Mansion/DotT will be that they were great and the Potter games...well...will suck for sute:(
These little annoucements remind me of that sign that used to be under McDonalds "over 100 million served!" Apple must be pretty desperate to get iTunes going. Either way I can't wait for the 50 million download thread.
I don't know but it seems like that kooky company that posted how many millions of burgers they sold is doing pretty well lately.
It's funny to use McDonalds as an example of silly business practices. They may have shit jobs, anti-union structuring, and opressive buying power but DAMN! can those people sell a shitload of burgers.
I see this as a dangerour move for the legislators who passed the bill. If they go about trumpeting it in their re-election campaign then it could backfire HARD.
Look, we all know that a bill on the books in even a country as influential as the US won't do any good for technical reasons.
If the senators talk about how they're doing it for the little guy and then said little guy looks in his inbox to find just as many, if not more, penis ads then confidence in the reps could waver.
Not only that, but I'll be that overseas spammers are smiling at this bill. Just because you clicked on an opt-out link in an email from a company based on China doesn't mean that they have to remove you from their list any more than they did before. In fact, now I'd bet that you're going to see even more spam because people in the US will be doing just that; clicking on all the opt-out links thinking that now they're protected by the new bill.
"We can't just open this up to the public. The minute we open it up we have in fact opened it up to the public and we can't restrict it in the future from a proprietary standpoint," said SCO CEO Darl McBride at conference in August this year.
So they're afraid that releasing the code could encourage other people to take it and integrate into their own OSes? Yeah, there's a good idea. I wouldn't touch anything SCO-code-related with a 20-foot pole.
Goddamnit. Now we have to stuff more corks in the asses of cows. Goddamn farts are gonna kill us all...
...and more killing of Haitians! Damn those goddamn Haitians!
Really, though, I never thought about them before they sued rockstar but now my roommate and I make as many haitian jokes as we can. Damn them!
It's legit. Thanks! I needed something to read in class :)
iKill?
The V-T supercomputer runs on Mac OS 10.3, not Linux
They'll post it later on tonight.

Why can't people just do this by default? It took me 2 seconds to find...

Problem: Your server hardware is failing due to a greater and greater amount of traffic, coupled with hardware defects.
/., effectively destroying anything that was left of the server iron. Claim it all on insurance.
....Profit!
Solution: Post your problem to
And of course:
like when the retarded kid at school asks you how to become more popular..

Thanks for the link! Now I can stop using Rand McNally and the CIA World Factbook to determine where I travel to.
Oman, here I come!
But thanks to our friends at the RIAA that'll be $3,000 to sing it....
Anybody who makes a fighting game based upon fight club is a frigging retard.
And the screens that they showed look like shit.
Don't people that say these types of things work at the game companies???

"November's big loser was Take Two Interactive, whose sales plummeted 47 percent.
This season's big loser is Valve, Sierra, et. al. for the snafu over Half-Life 2. They would be fucking ROLLING in cash if it'd come out in time.
On another apple-related thread, Forbes is running a story now where you can vote for your favorite and least-favorite Apple ads.
