Xouvert is a development branch of the Xfree86 source tree. It's purpose is to provide wide testing and integration for third party patches, and to test and stabilize innovative new ideas for submission to the main Xfree86 branch.
Doesn't really sound like Xouvert marks the end of XFree86. Indeed, it sounds like Xouvert is dedicated to improving XFree86.
Their linux drivers run the dualhead Radeon 8500 without any problems for me. I can have separate screens (and separate window managers) on each head, or one large screen controlled by one window manager.
Since you tried out a development kernel you seem to be a developer or at least part of quality assurance. Therefor you are not allowed to ignore bugs like that and go back to the working version. Instead you have to find out the source of the problem, write a nice bug report and file it.
If I had the time at the moment to find the source of the problem, I would... However, that's not an option today. I have, however, sent along a nice bug report describing the problem and my system configuration.
"hda: lost interrupt" during the boot sequence. I gave up after about 3 minutes of those messages while it was reading the partition table. Went back to 2.4.22 for the time being.
Anyone else creeped out by the way all this attention and blame is heaped on Ashcroft and Congress, ignoring all the people who gave them all these powers to begin with? If you want to talk about responsibility and blame, let's talk about the millions upon millions upon millions of people who elected these current congress-critters.
im just worried about their linux drivers and Nvidia has definantly got ATI beat.
Hardly... Having used the most recent versions of both the linux ATI drivers and the linux nVidia drivers, I can honestly say that ATI's drivers are much more stable, and perform just as well as nVidia's drivers. In my opinion, each release from nVidia (in the last year or so) has gotten much less stable, while ATI's drivers keep improving.
And if you worked for me, I'd terminate you for terminating them, and tell you to go buy a sense of humor.

I hate Bush... Despise the guy. This entire planet would be better off without him.
The Supreme Court still made the correct decision.

Just run fglrxconfig (at least, I think that's the app), and answer the questions. It's the config utility that ships with the drivers.

Just curious, but do you have any proof that shows that clicking on one of those unsubscribe links actually removes you from the list?

No one said that by invading Kuwait, Saddam broke sanctions. They simply said that "Saddam didn't attack his neighbors" which is an outright lie.
Dinivin
Saddam didn't attack his neighbors,
So I imagined that whole invasion of Kuwait when I was in High School? I knew I had an activate imagination then but I didn't know it was that active.

Taking a boat off into never-never land is more realistic? Having Saruman and his henchman take over the Shire is more realisitic?
Dinivin
Thank God. That was one of the stupidest endings of any book that I've ever read.

Unfortunately, it seems this kernel won't compile for me when I have acpi disabled
Dinivin
Thanks, I'll have to give that a try.

What makes you think I haven't?

Wasn't impressed...

How the f*ck did this get modded as insightful?
nVidia supported linux the entire time they had the first xBox contract with Microsoft.
There's a difference between speaking up about protecting your rights and acting like a three year old kid.

Other's have though of it before. I bought a copy of Terminus a couple of years ago that had linux, windows, and mac binaries on them.

And where did you get this mysterious 90% number from?
Dinivin
Believe me, no OS does a better at package management, and package upgrades, than FreeBSD.
Dinivin
Yeah, because cvsup is such a difficult thing to figure out.

It's impossible for me to be entertained when the acting, as on B5, is utter crap.
