1) What happens when the phone needs to be repaired or have the firmware updated?
2) How will people react when you're in the store/laundrymat/etc talking to the voices in your head? Just try to convince people that you've got a phone embedded in your mouth, as they dial for the padded wagon....
3) How does one go about changing carriers, if they wanted to?
Not totally correct -- IBM had access to the Windows code until MS came out with Windows 3.11 - the "upgrade" from 3.1 to 3.11 was designed (some at IBM thought, at least) to render OS/2 unable to hook into the Windows OS.
When 95 came out, OS/2 had lost most, if not all, compatability except with legacy products.
How do I know? I used to work at IBM supporting OS/2 from 94-96.
Lindows is currently beta. When it goes GA, will the WalMart customers get a free upgrade? Anyone know anything about the licensing regarding this?
I'm all for going to Lindows, especially if it'll run *all* the Windows apps I currently use. If they're not getting 100% compatibility, they're going to lose customers.

..except for RoadRunner. They - so far at least - have stated that they don't have any plans to move to a metered service. They haven't officially announced it, but check out Yahoo's cable group (based out of Austin, TX).
The second everyone goes to metered service, I go back to dial-up. I was considering going to DSL via AT&T, and then heard they've moving to a metered service. Thanks for the warning, AT&T!
Ah, but they *do* pay for the privelege. When 'Office Space' was shot in my town (Austin, Texas) they paid the city for the right to film there (permits), for security (off-duty officers), as well as hotel rooms, catering, etc. Same was the case when they shot 'Miss Congeniality' here -- they shut down part of downtown Austin (for the Starbucks scene) and turned it into New York City for two days to shoot. Again, $$ for permits, $$ for hotel/catering, $$ for security.
And the city has become almost a mini-Hollywood with all the films that have been shot here. Real boost for the local economy.
Not sure. Which ever 4Spd auto (w/ od) bolted up to the '96 5.9L.
Regardless, the dealership was kind enough to rebuild it for $100. I didn't have a warranty (bought the truck used) and they saved me about $1500 on the rebuild.
I did have to have the drive shaft straightened too, btw. Guys that did it said it'd twisted somehow....

This got posted and my submission of AudioGalaxy got denied. I may be biased (since I submitted it) but I'd think AudioGalaxy getting sued in the same manner that Napster did would've been more newsworthy.
Nice to see that they're working with alternative fuels, but if the underlying mechanics of their vehicles still suck (I lost reverse gear in my 1996 Ram 1500 at 38K miles) then what's the point? Even my 2001 Ram 1500 was a lemon (pray you never have to have Chrysler buy back a vehicle..). 6 trips to the dealership to fix a computer problem and the dealership was forced to buy it back.
For extra fun, I've started signing up abuse@ and postmaster@ as well. When the form asks for a name, I use their email address. That way, abuse@ and postmaster@ see that the name matches one of their users.
Now everyone go and sign up every possible address for customoffers.com to get what they deserve! The bastards!:)
I've started taking the email addresses of the spammers and signing them up for "opt-in" email. Whether this is enough to keep them busy is anyone's guess.
No, this is why you create fake accounts and/or give false information. Never assume/believe that a company (especially MicroSoft) will act in good faith and keep the public's interests at heart - its not profitable.

Why not just send them email with an imbedded URL rather than having to explain?

All the more reason to "Blame Canada!"
I, for one, still think we need to invade Canada. We need the land, and it's not like they have an army.
While we're at it, nuke France. Any place that likes David Hasselhoff and Jerry Lewis doesn't deserve to exist.
Nah, I look at the headers.

Switch to Grokster, neuter it using the DLLs from http://www.cexx.org !!
