  1. Stacked Deck? on Oscar Wrapup (American Beauty and The Matrix win) · · Score: 2

Well I should think that the deck was decidedly stacked against the Matrix. Many other movies were nominated for as many as 10(?) and Matrix won all 4 that it was nominated for. I would like to believe that it would have easily won cinematography had it been nominated for that (Robbery that it wasnt!!!). Anyway American Beauty was an excellent movie and it did deserve best picture =)

It seems like the announcements from Loki are coming faster and faster. I know they have probably hired more people since they started but I was wondering on the turnaround time on porting one of these games. I hope they keep up the great work!

  4. Important difference on Playstation on Linux UPDATED · · Score: 1

Microsoft creates and has *full control* over all the software they package and ship with their OS. Not true with RedHat. RedHats entire business is built around packaging and marketing linux based products. If they can make this model work, more power to them! They can *NOT* violate the GPL so any fear of embrace and extend from RedHat is fairly benign.

An intelligent signal was detected by a Windows user in Memphis last month but was kept quiet by SETI. They knew it was a message from an alien race but they could not decode what it meant. An encryption specialist who knew someone at distributed.net handed the message over to them and unbeknownst to users, the message was inserted into the key-cracking server. Early this morning the message was cracked and experts were amazed at the significance and wisdom the contacting race had bestowed upon us. The NWO wanted to keep this to themselves and control the rest of the world however with the release of Kevin Mitnick this morning this was impossible. Kevin broke into Top Security systems at NASA and stole this incredible piece of knowledge and has now given it to the world. Without further hesitation, the message:

Its nice that there are distro[s] out there using pgcc to get the performance boost but I work with a guy who has tried several versions of Mandrake on different machines, and when he compiles the kernel it invariably causes some problem. It may go weeks or even months without problem but then just crashes for no apparent reason. The linux-kernel guys say not to use pgcc on the kernel because its known to be unstable when you do. However if this is the compiler that comes with Mandrake how are you expected to safely upgrade your system?!

Its a shame really, since its (imho) the most obvious place to look. The only exception I can think of offhand is #linuxhelp on openprojects.net (It seems most people on OPN are pretty friendly)
