    I'm going to agree with the AC below me, I'm tired of the GD bitcoin stories on /. Until payment with bitcoins becomes ubiquitous, like paypal is with online purchases, I don't need to see a story about it every few days. Until then I don't care.

    Thanks for digging up more information. The headline made is VERY misleading. Telling people these is no danger is worlds away from not saying/predicting anything. This situtation is more like a MD telling you there is no risk for the surgery.

    The DSLRs that I looked at don't have any internal storage. And I don't think I would want it too. The ability to store and organize pictures based on SD cards is nice. You buy a good DSLR camera and it will last you a long time

    I'll sometimes takes 500 pictures on an outing at 10megs each

    I think if you are that concerned with security you shouldn't be relying on android and drop box for your security concerns.The more COTS products (free or otherwise) that you use the more you are held hostage to their business practices. If the data is that important to you then you shouldn't be placing it all over creating because you want easy access while relaying on someone else to keep it safe.

    Security is your primary concern, for a free service like drop box you'r lucky if it's even a secondary concern.

    Just as easy, an encrypted sd card and a netbook.

    It's a down just like any other down. If you're not going to go for it on 4th down why even go for it at all. Oh we didn't make it on first down, well since we could fumble on 2nd down or throw an interception on 3rd down we might as well punt now.

    Congratulations. By retweeting and posting news stories about this, you've given this designer guy undreamed of publicity. I'm sure he's gutted.

    I think there is a point when a company/brand name is so well known that not all publicity is in-fact good publicity. If Kenneth Cole was some small single store in the middle of no where then yes this would have been a boon but it's not. I'm too tired to look for examples for company stock price dips when the get bad publicity but I'm sure they are there.

    I rarely do too except for the assignments for the current class I am taking. Esp since the netbook remix puts a few steps in between you and browsing your file system. I just found it awkward and annoying. Why have a desktop if it's hard to put anything on it except a menu bar that is clunky and hard to configure. Heck I couldn't even figure out how to configure it. What if I wanted it on the right hand side or the top or the bottom. I will be going back to a regular desktop.

    I was using it on a netbook. It's is a pita. I know this might sound stupid and maybe I was missing something obvious but I couldn't get files/folders on my desktop. In fact it was a bit of a struggle just to get a navigation window open so I could go to my Windows partition. I would exactly call it a very intuitive interface. I don't plan on trying unity again for a very long time if ever.

    Couldn't agree more. The business world has not time for zealots; and if you come off as one then the people who makes calls based on quantifiable figures and data will quickly pass you up as the boy who cries wolf.

    In the end; chose the best tool for the job. Which may or may be FOSS. If you come at a conclusion based on sound research rather than "ZOMG proprietary software is teh devil!" you'll have more luck.... mainly because you'll be picking your battles for times you have a chance to win.

    Thanks yes I know of DirectX and I remember the days of DOS and picking out your sound card and you graphics card (even before 3d acceleration) joystick etc and even with that there were still a boat load of games both put out by big companies and some guy in his garage. You had to pick what you would and would not support and most all games would default to bare bones if needed, like internal speaker and generic EGA or VGA display and keyboard control.

    Agreed.

    I don't see how it can be an issue. Look how prolific development is for windows is, you have no guarantee what the hardware is yet that didn't seem to hinder development for Windows esp if you compare Windows to Apple.

    So You the customer signed a contract with the cell phone company. You agree to a certain amount of minutes at a certain rate plus additional fees should you go over those minutes. You use your phone. You go over the minutes. But when the cell phone company sends you a bill it's stealing? Don't you have the ability to track the amount of minutes as the month goes by? Even if you don't that's not exactly the cell phone companies fault as you signed up to do business with them.

    I kid, but after Calc II it's all symbols, either Latin, Arabic Hebrew etc.

    Why would I want something to augment a netbook when I can just take a netbook? From my cursory search most netbooks seem to less than 2.5 pounds. So for one additional pound of wight you have something with much more functionality. Yeah the ipad augments a netbook all right. Just like an appendix augments your large intestines.

    Notebooks are cumbersome; but a netbook is nice. I don't even consider my laptop as being portable anymore. I had a classmate in discrete math with the asus t101 tablet/net book and that device was slick. I think that's the perfect balance between ease of use, functionality and cost. Yeah it's a little bigger than an Ipad but it overcomes all the shortcomings of the iPad/e-readers.

    A sad part to all this is had it not been leaked and shared all over the p2p services the film company would have no one to blame but themselves. File sharers are just making it easy for the big companies to use them as scapegoats.

    This was the same problem with the screen saver app that also did something malicious. Couldn't find the name of the app just said that it was out there. This is starting to bother me; tell me what the app, where it was installed from is and who the developer is.
