At some point you have to take responsibility for keeping your stuff safe. If you buy a hard copy of a book and loose it you can't really go to B&N and expect them to give you a new one. I don't see why digital media should be much different.
Good point. I'm not sure if it was mentioned somewhere else probably was. I'm to lazy to RTFA tonight. But you could also say something about the ease of copying information has steadily gone up. If you can copy it easily then it doesn't mater how long the medium it's on lasts, because like you said all we do is copy it.
Why reinvent the wheel? If youtube lets you host videos for free why should 20 different govt agencies try to do it themselves? And if they are posting public information again it would be better for it to be on someone else's machines. If the agency was hosting on one of their machines the risks would be higher, since they would have to make sure that public facing machine was guarded and secured very well so that if someone found a vulnerability they could access other parts of the network that weren't meant for public exposure.
So this is the part of the thread that talks about how parents need to stop looking for easy ways out that surely gets the +5 insightful. This camp is becoming just as bad as the Wont some one please think of the children camp.
Give the man a break, all he wants is for some stuff not to show up how is that being irresponsible and also how is him sitting there with his daughter going to prevent a popup? Do you really think he should have to explain the pros and cons of a movie involving girls and a cup at an young age?
For all the crap that Roland took, at least you were guranteed that the summary on/. was not just a copy and paste of the first paragraph of the article. The copy and past annoys me to no end.
I will. All companies will have a problem from time to time if they've been in the game long enough. At least Seagate is showing they will stand behind their product and offer assistance to help the user get their data back.
Mistakes will always happen, it's their response that counts.
This assumes the algorithms are in fact BS. Of course the defense attorneys will say they are flawed and the DA would have to get experts to prove they are not. So if they do away with private companies machines FL I assume could still put out a proposal to have a company develop a machine for the state of Florida source code included. Or they could just forgo breath test and use field sobriety tests and if you fail move right to the blood test. Refuse the blood test and loose your licensee for period of years. (The more the better)
All it takes is for some sales jerk off to have an epiphany while in the tub "Hey instead of having content or god forbid silence, we could be making money by selling this space to someone" and you'll have advertising. Esp if they already have your money or attention.
Why does a game based on a movie have to come out at the same time as the movie? If it can stand on it's own right then it can come out whenever. Some of the most popular games that have come out recently have had no movie to capitalize on and they did quit well.
When all you have is a hammer all your problems look like nails
I'll assume your not suggesting that all fetus should be aborted, and that it should be forced. So we'll go from there. If the mother decides to carry the pregnancy to term whats the wrong with preventing the child from suffering some of the debilitating side effects of DS.
That could be good. before the only people who used their bandwidth were "teh evil pirates", now if joe schmoe and his mother are going over their cap maybe they will see that they need to keep pace.
This seems kind of redundant. What I am saying is this. Lets say I want to build an electric car that gets 1000 miles to a charge, but to reduce costs I have to use an existing chassis. Well it turns out that in order to build this car and get 1000 mpc I will have to use the entire cabin to store the batteries. Suddenly someone should say if it can no longer be what it was intended to be, but now it exists solely to support itself why build it at all?
It seems as though redundant isn't the right word. Their has to be a word/phrase/term to describe this situation. Other than ISS
You might find that the reason you are not getting the same respect I do is not becuase you wear a skirt (as your profile page says) but because you start your arguments with broad generalities and blatant stereotypes. When you say it's a cultural thing that "they lack initiative" it puts people off, becuase no matter how many examples you site I can site an counter example. I've worked with plenty for people from India and all over the world for that matter and I can tell you you are making grossly wrong generalities about them. Conversely I work with Americans that couldn't make a decision to save their lives. Maybe this is becuase of your work environment. Maybe you should consider working for a different company that works to bring diversity in to the workplace, maybe Target just doesn't do it right. I don't know. No one culture is better than any other culture in our field and if you can't accept that then your going to find your professional experience getting worse and not better.
Funny enough I was just complaining that my company (a leader in national defense hardware and software) was insulting my intelligence by sending out diversity in the workplace emails and requiring us to go to lectures/sessions on why it's important. I couldn't see how my generation could be in need of seeing things from a different POV, assuming we around the same age you've proved me wrong.
I'd like to see your source on that one, Assuming that sound can't move through the rest of the rifle(for sake of discussion) and will only escape out of the muzzle the shooters ear is about 1 meter away form the source. The Barrett M82 (using.50 BMG round) has a max effective range of 6800m with a muzzle velocity of 853 m/s. That means that it will take that round 7.79 seconds to go the max distance or 2.16 seconds to go the effective range of 1850 meters.
The speed of sound is 340.29m/s, so for the sound of the gun shot to go from the muzzle to the shooters ear 1 meter away will take apx 0.0029 seconds. At 853 m/s the round will have only traveled 2.47 meters away from the muzzle.
Provided the target is less than 2.47 meters away then yes the will have a whole in them before you the shooter hears teh shot, but you said thousands of yards, which as we proved is just wrong. Now had you said that you the target will have a whole in you before you the target even hears the report then yes you would be right.
Oh and you totally misused the joke anyway of th GP. It was a Monty Python sketch./All figures from GIS and wikipedia)//Math could be wrong, please correct me if I'm wrong

comments like that put you on my friend list.
That's easy. Take a regular magnet and cut it in half, gees do I have to do all the heavy thinking around here.
How about Quake I where the full game was on the demo?

She probably spends as much time and energy looking good as you do playing WoW. ;)

you could also damage it by shacking it or drop it, but as long as they put that in the manual I fail to see how it's their fault.
Don't care, don't own one.
Say no more sir!
Wink wink nudge nudge.
Ah is your wife a goer?
Windows-only software (e.g., Photoshop)
ahem... Photoshop is NOT windows only.

I don't see this much differently than having advertisements at HS football games or around school baseball fields. More power to him.

So your saying a 3rd world developer is not as capable as someone from the US... Nice way to be xenophobic.

A fire a reverse tachyon pulse out of the main deflector. It has a possibility of firing the key systems but thats a chance we'll have to take.
