We go through this crap every time some one puts out a study. When some one says no correlation exists, /. as a whole agrees. When some one says a link exists /. as a whole says correlation does not equal causation.

Since we all know how the posts will go why does /. even post them. It gets pointless after while.

What about college students, will they quit writing open source projects. I doubt it.

I think you could also draw similarities between open source coders and artists too. Just cause your not getting paid for you work doesn't mean you quit, sometimes you continue just to do it. Also if you are unemployed working on a open source project would be a good way to improve your portfolio or to show what you were doing in that 6 month period between jobs.

I use equal amounts of linux XP/Vista and even at its worst I never had a XP box crash several times a day on its own. When it was unstable it was either a bad video driver and an overheating processor. (Vista is just as stable as my linux development box)

A name is only important until you get brand recognition. Apple. Mac (Macintosh) Adobe. Come on theses aren't really professional sounding names either. AfterEffects might just make some one think of pr0n.

I have nothing to back that up with other than cost, I'm not sure what the comparison of Flash to Blu-Ray is.
