Many have gotten real bold about how they go about sharing things. In the old days it was like you had to be "elite" or "31337 d00d" in order to get to the restricted files on the BBS so you could download them at 2400 baud. Typically this meant that you knew the sysop, or were a friend of a friend. We have gotten too lax in the way that people are just randomly sharing out everything. Want to share stuff and download? I agree, but take it to encrypted tunnels on IPv6.
I wonder if that means they can install any Microsoft software they want, or anything anything - I mean, Microsoft sucks, but at least it doesnt have trojans and such in it - if they are installing just anything, They better at least know how to fix it - and I wonder if that applies to the office assistants and the girl at the front desk, and other non-techies.
I really don't consider this a vulnerability as much as a form of social engineering / taking advantage of the stupid. Similar to phishing - you don't see someone saying that phishing scams are a mail client vulnerability.
Maybe in the state you live in you can get a free report every year, some states already had a law like that, but not in the state I live in, it's 5 bucks. I also never stated that it was not free in the past to make a dispute. I never even hinted at that.
Thanks for the guarantee though that they did try and contact me, since I had my mail forwarded, did not change my phone number, and received my final bill from them at my new address
For those reasons, I do blame them for not contacting me.
And thanks for taking it so personally and being so hostile, and then hiding behind anonymous coward.
Back to the current topic, I suspect that this free report will actually be limited in someway and then they will offer to sell you the special, extended edition, unrated directors cut for some small fee.
I suspect also that you are correct - now as it sits you can get a report for $5, (in my state) and then if you want your credit SCORE its another 5 dollars - so very likely they will cleverly market this to say something along the lines of "Your credit report is USELESS without a credit score! for only $5 we'll give you your credit score"
And you know how many people are going to take that option, i mean, it's only 5 bucks right? so the credit companies actually stand to make more money off of this deal, since more people will be interested in a free report, then once they are merketed to will realize that they absolutely MUST have their score as well.
Yes. I recently just got mine (paid for it) In addition to my mortgage being on there, which shows I've never been late in paying and such, there was a delinquint account. I was like WTF? Since over the last few years I've tried to be REALLY good about bills and credit and such. Turns out, I owed $1.81 (yes, one dollar and eighty one cents) to my former gas company, which is very likely to be that when I paid my final bill to them before I moved 2 years ago that I simply wrote the check out for the wrong amount - yea, it's my fault, but someone could have simply called me, sent me a bill, ANYTHING. but no, instead they send it to collections, who also never bothered to contact me and freaking tell me this. It took me only about a 10 minute phone call to straighten it out - but if I hadnt gotten a copy of my report, I never would have even known.
Now to answer your actual question about a real mistake, that is, something that you did not actually do, you simply have to make a written request to the credit agency with notes on why it's not your credit and such. each of the big 3 have instuctions on their website for how to dispute things on there.
It would be great if people in this country would care. Sure they say that outsourcing and such bothers them, but do they bother to research who is outsourcing and deny them business? NO. Big business KNOWS this, and they know the customer will keep coming back. Even if everyone that reads this post actually does stop buying from X company - It's not even a drop in the bucket to big corporation. Society sucks. I don't know what I can do except my own part. If anyone seriously wants to organize, do let me know.
I hate that something like this even need linux support. I mean, it's basicaly a modem - it should emulate a simple piece of hardware and work on any combination of hardware and software without fancy client software. Imagine if you had to have fancy client with all these unneeded bells and whistles for your 2400 Baud external modem back in the day.
Any vendor that came to me and said "we've taken measures to make sure that the normal use of our product does not interfere with the normal use of your network" wins the bid.
I built a network for vendor lab equipment that was it's own netowrk, connected to the main network via a file server with 2 nics and NO routing. Therefore, file could be transfered from the lab network to the file server, and then from there to any of the main networks, of course after they had been scanned for viruses and such, since anti virus software usually would not run on their equipment. My rules were firm and backed by higher-ups - if you couldnt get your equipment to work in the enivroment given, or with only minimal flexibility from me (for example i'd write scripts to move their files automatically to the main, backed up network or something simple like that) - then we will find another vendor to provide us a solution that fits. Period. I never had any problem with a vendor once they heard the terms. They won't make money off us if they can't make the system work in our environment.
Still for sale though

It amazes me though that all the big retailers are still selling and having sales on VCRs.. I mean.. who still has a VCR? Even if you do have one.. why would you bother buying a new one?
IF you threaten to sue us due to any content that we link to, simply send us the domain names in question and we will completely forever remove any links to your sites.

"Computer! : Porn : Jenna Jameson : Naked"
That may be true for home users, and even small business - but in the medium to large business, integrated calandering is HUGE.
Still disturbing.
Thats just scary though. I try to avoid ingesting things that are able to create their own heat.
If the shit REALLY hits the fan, I might need my GPS to get me out of a jam.
You forgot to add.. "If you know what I mean.."

If they updated to exchange 2003, they likely turned on the RBL feature that is included, thus explaining your drop in spam. Ask the sys admins.

Jennings is a progammer. I'm sure he reads slashdot. So - how about it Ken? Where are ya?

Dear Slashdotters,
I'm So Sorry

and let me guess, the old manager took the stance of " I don't need or want to know the password, that's your job"
Yea, been there.
Seriously.

Google and others should adopt a policy such as:
IF you threaten to sue us due to any content that we link to, simply send us the domain names in question and we will completely forever remove any links to your sites.
please, nobody make any comments about wi-fi toys that interact with porn sites.
please.
please.
although, I bet you could make some money there.
Wow, virtually my neighboor. Nothing interesting happens around here. I wonder where he was working and If I can have his job? haha.
