The US immigration "policy" since Reagan (rot in hell, Ron) was only ever about cheap labor. Lower cost == bigger profit.
It's been interesting to see the arc of H1-B being an issue. 10 years ago a lot of the "we're superior beings, we don't need a union" developer types argued only the best and brightest would be allowed in.

The 10 years really snuck up on me but it's really good to know that one can indeed make their own niche in the world and do it with integrity. To me, it sounds to like you're richer than mere money can make a man.
I'm reminded of an interview with Pete Townshend in Mix magazine. The interviewer asks about sample rates and PT says nothing special happens till you get to 192kHz. Then he acknowledges that he's deaf as a brick and admits his opinion is faith-based. But it's still given as gospel.
